Glad you have a trusted neighbor to help you out. We’ve all been there. Great job. It looks awesome.

thanks! I'm glad it's finally done and a great addition to the shop

Great looking cabinet, finished off nicely with the logo. I've been looking at building something similar myself but twice the width and not on wheels. Excellent inspiration

I'm glad I could inspire! Good luck on coming up with something that fits your situation.

Dude why didn’t you use the ap2 smoke purifier which is linked directly to the laser?? You have the old xtool purifier
@DudeSawdust2 күн бұрын
Good question. xTool sent me this laser and purifier. Less than a month later they came out with the new purifier.

@@DudeSawdusthey there! John is on to something here. I just want to give you a heads up that old one is not only crap compared to the new one - but that one is actually a health hazard if you’re going to be doing any material on that laser other than simple plywood. I would hit up support from them and ask them to upgrade your filter they sent you to an AP2 ESPECIALLY since you did such an amazing brand based promo style build repping them. Once you get into the lasers they have to offer, ESPECIALLY how they add eas to a woodworkers life with the precision they add - you’ll wanna get all the machines and xtool is really good about setting up KZbinrs with free machines.
@DudeSawdustКүн бұрын
@@RoyalTTV I reached out to xTool and they said they woujld send the AP2 when the filter for this model needs to be replaced. So far they have been very supportive.

I don't have a laser and probably never will. I don't have a CNC and probably never will. But I still like the video and watched the whole thing. Looks fantastic.

thanks so much for watching it all. At least I can be entertaining and get people thinking. Always grateful for your support!

Definitely get the AP2 - it's a million times better and works automatically via Bluetooth

Bluetooth?!?! I did not know that. Nice!

How about laptop heat dissipation with that foam?
@DavZell2 күн бұрын
Definitely a potential issue. They can get very hot, especially if powered from AC.

Since I will only be using it for designing and not prolonged use I think the solution is to turn it off in between usage. I hadn't really considered it until getting these comments. Some thing to think about for sure

My XTOOL package ($7,000) is still in the boxes. I will need to build a cabinet as well. I may borrow some ideas from your design. Looks really great with the paint job. BTW - your audio is a little on the low side.

@@MarkWatson-xi1ry I glad I could give you some good ideas. Thanks for the audio heads up👍

How is the air purifier working out without an air exhaust from the cabinet? Is it able to suck out the smoke?

All I have to do is open the back doors and it has plenty of ventilation. works like a charm

did you end up putting the link to the drill bit / driver bit mount? Mentioned around 5:30

I love the computer in the drawer idea but remember computers and notepads need to be cooled. I think that foam is the worst thing you can do
@DudeSawdust3 күн бұрын
I totally get where you are coming from but since this laptop is used only for designing and not prolonged use, I don't anticipate this heating up much...but maybe I'm naive.

I was going to come on and say the same thing.

@@DudeSawdustEven if you don't see obvious issues, the internal components will have their life shortened. If you charge while in there it will be even worse. I'd remove the foam and put something with airflow in it's place (or probably better a solid platform) raising it to your desired height.
@DudeSawdust2 күн бұрын
@@DavZell You definitely know more about this than I do, thanks for the tips. I'll really take a deeper look at it
@319.e2 күн бұрын
While you are technically right that airflow would be better, these machines put off next to no heat even when doing quite a bit of work and they don’t have any active cooling. The cooling comes from the body of the laptop which goes through the top and bottom of the aluminum case acting as a kind of heat-sync. While it would technically be better, I think for a computer like this doing simple 2d designing I am not sure that the effect to the longevity would be outside of the margin of error.

wouldnt the solution to be to connect the laser to wifi and use the computer in the house?
@DavZell2 күн бұрын
Then you have to run back and forth for any changes, hitting the go button the laser, resist the temptation to go back to the PC for the next thing while one is running, etc.

Looks like @DavZell took the text right out of my fingers. He's exactly correct. Gotta have that laptop right there next to the laser
