Making a Leather Trifold Wallet (PATTERN!)
We tend to shy away from making leather trifold wallets as they're usually fairly bulky, but this design we came up with is a simple, useful trifold design that manages to stay rather slim! The nice thing about this leather trifold pattern is that it can be made to have 6 card slots, an ID window, three card slots, or even just be a card holder without the trifold extension - you have lots of choices! But for those who prefer trifold wallets, this is a nice way to make one out of saddle leather without ending up with a super thick wallet.

I wonder if you could put some snaps on this, so you could take out the card holder part and just carry that when the situation calls for it, or place in another configuration of the card pocket if you needed more/less slots.

Great design. I've recently been playing around with a trifold concept (currently carrying a first attempt) and I think you nailed it. Money compartment in mine runs full length, unsewn on right, and I'm using a snap to hold it shut. I may try your design, possibly mod it slightly. I've enjoyed your videos and it's cool that you're also a watch guy. 👍

I’m new to leather work and have been struggling to make a solid pattern for a badge (law enforcement, fire, EMS, etc) wallet that can hold bills and few cards (6-8). Trying to keep the thickness down has been difficult as well. I’d love to see you make one or just provide some advice if possible! Your videos have taught me so much and gave me the confidence to start leather working. Thank you!

Nice, but wait until your customer gives it the load test. I made a tri-fold and the customer complained. When I asked him to stop by so I could take a look, I swear that thing was almost 3 inches thick with cards and receipts. I had to explain the difference between a wallet and a closet.

I've always wondered if that bothers people, being that the majority of the planet uses the Metric System. So. I’ve thought about making a wallet for some time now and know what I want but not seen the right pattern yet. This is sooooo close.
