23:04 you've seen this before, it's a blaster sometimes covering a door to make it look like it's the same door but it's actually 2 different doors. The way they knew whether it was your first or second attempt was by moving the blaster if you entered the wrong side of the pipe first. The bomb below the screen (at 21:24) had the sole purpose of masking the explosion of the wall in the other room.

I think the flagpole troll at the end only happens when you go into the wrong end of the pipe before the right side. Once you have the knowledge, then you'll just go in the right side of the pipe, which changes the events in the sub-world.

You can usually get those from the beginning of the video, and more often than not the troll levels tend to get removed by Nintendo or updated by the creator before they make it to YT

I assume that when you go into the wrong pipe room and hit the p-block, it blows up some stuff offscreen to set up access to a different door

Jothki: Yep that or the bomb in the bottom left blowing up in the same room There’s no way to die between there and the fake ending, so a player will probably see that room on the first go and then avoid it on the second
