Oh boy did that bring back memories. The old bics use to have the adjustment but they discontinued them.

Fire is crucial in the outdoors. We had a lot of fun as boy scouts turning up cheap lighters into flame throwers. Hope your enjoying hibernation

Marc I remember doing this hack back in the day. Having multiple lighters and/or multiple methods to light a fire is a must in the backcountry. Thanks Brother! 🍻

Thanks for sharing this modification for the see through lighters Marc. This trick will work great for lighting Coleman lanterns (as well as fires) instead of matches. I did a similar mod to a refillable mini butane torch lighter a few years ago but its tough to see the blue flame at times.

Excellent information Marc. That's a hack that many of us ex-smokers know. Great idea teaching it to others that may not have seen it. Thanks for sharing!

You're a Fire Bug!! Great tips and advice on what lighter to carry and why. Nice hack to turn up the volume of gas for a bigger flame!

My go to fire starter in an emergency is a road flare. An old lion hunter told me about it and having 15 minutes of high intensity torch in the pack means I can get the wettest wood lit no problem

That was a cool hack. I've never thought about lighters in such detail. I liked the tin idea too, I've been using a watertight bag for my fire kit but the tin would be much more durable. 👍
