Big fan. This one has me stumped. It’s great you have indicated how to use the tools! It makes you wonder what everyone’s eyes actually see. To my visual perception, the beautiful oceanic sky has been mangled into the ugly glow of a Metropolitan artificial light.
@JimNix11 күн бұрын
haha, totally fair and yes, it's a bit colorful (though I like it) - this vid was mostly about what you can do with the tools, but of course each photo varies as do our tastes etc - thanks for watching!

That's what happens when you take a non sunset image and try to turn it into a sunset. A pixel editor might make a better job of it but at the end of the day it's a fabricated image. Digital art rather than a photograph.
@JimNix5 күн бұрын
@@barryj1956 it's definitely a creation and more art vs photo at this point, which is fun to do sometimes

Elegance from simplicity. I've hybridized LRC, On1 and Nik in my workflow. Your videos on LRC and On1 have been helpful. Very clear presentations What you showed today helped steer my to getting more out of my colors! Calibration is new to me

Great to see you back on Lightroom again. Not a fan of Neo's pricing/extensions structure, so I don't watch those videos. I also use Calibration all the time, but I'd be lying if I said I knew what was really going on under the hood. I would love a detailed explanation of what Calibration is actually doing.
@JimNix11 күн бұрын
thanks Dave and it is a great tool - as I understand it, it's impacting the RGB values in every pixel vs something like HSL which just hits the color you select - so when you increase the Blue saturation in calibration, it increases the saturation of the blues in each pixel, etc - it has quite an impact and I will do more videos with it for sure!

Glad you are back into Lightroom Jim. I asked for some tutorials a while ago now but you weren’t doing LR then. I have Lightroom (cloud/mobile) and edit on my iPad. I have not got a clue what a luminosity mask is or indeed when or how I would use one so more information and videos would be great 👍 😊

Hi Jim, Just discovered your channel, very well done and easy to follow. Question for you, I am going to Alaska to try and photograph the Northern Lights at the end of this month. I have a Canon 6D Mark ll with. 24-70 mm 2.8 attached, should I shoot raw in both cards or one jpeg and one raw? Your thoughts please, this is probably a one time trip so I want to make the most of it, hopefully I’ll see some lights if not I am sure there are other things to photograph.
@JimNix11 күн бұрын
Hi there and thanks. I've never shot RAW+JPG as I am not sure what I would do with the JPG, other than maybe a quick social share or send to family while on the trip. So I guess that depends on what you plan to do. I only ever shoot RAW and nothing else. If you don't need the JPGs then RAW in both cards is a good move for redundancy purposes.

Thanks so much Lysander, and no, not really. I use Luminar for the majority of my edits still, but manage my catalog in LR so I use it a lot too. It's a great product. I just like to work with multiple tools to keep my skills up and push myself to learn new things. Thanks for watching!
