Quick tip for Stick welding, when your rod is hot after finishing the weld flick the rod away to prevent slag from forming on the end

I have this same machine . I use 030 wire and have no problem welding 1/4 inch . Great little machine . I have a dedicated outlet on a 20 amp breaker .

I haven't welded in a while, but this video was like being home for me. I really like working with metal, I like metal in general. I instantly took a liking to this welder, it's size and capability. Great video, thanks.

The experience I have with 110 vs 220 is you have to keep an incredibly tight arc with 110 on stick welding, doesn't have the juice to keep even a slightly long arc

Hello Voss, would you mind explaining or making a video for welding aluminum with this machine or why not to weld aluminum with this.

7018 is really hard to start after the first initial strike. The slag builds up over the electrode so you’ve gotta break that off to reinitiate the arc. I’ve found that starting the arc is the hardest part and most frustrating to get past.
@JustVoss
@JustVoss Жыл бұрын
Yeah that makes a lot of sense, that’s why I was trying to beat the end off it to expose the electrode

Double cut or Mill files work great for breaking that slag off. Either that or a cheap sharpening stone.

I just wish Everlast would put the damn power switch on the front of the machine!!!

It’s international regulations that require the power switch to be near the power incoming power lead.

Great video I am curious about how this can weld aluminum with the spool gun, especially on 110v, and which spool gun would you recommend that would work?
@jessemccollum937
@jessemccollum937 Жыл бұрын
On the everlast channel I did a video on this same machine running a spool gun. It doesn’t have the advanced features like a mig hot start and burn back, but it does run it quite well.

Yea 120-volt machines don't seem to get a whole lot of love lol. I have the Lincoln le31mp. It's a 120 volt multi-process and I love it. Is it limiting? Of course but I still enjoy it

Hi, I’m start off and looking for a multiprocess welder that does it all(Mig,stick and Ac/Dc Tig).I’ve herd that the everlast 221sti is good,but believe they don’t make them any more.Any suggestions that won’t be as expensive as a miller mulitimatic 220?

Everlast still has a bunch of options, some with DC only TIG and some like the Lightning MTS's that have AC & DC TIG. Here you can see them all: bit.ly/3ledFar

Check out the vevor mig 270 I just got one for like 260 bucks , it does mig tig arc and is 110/220 , so far u absolutely love it and there are a bunch of videos if you search of people who are totally impressed with what it does for the price . The wire that came with it was junk if you get one don't even bother using it, toss it out and get some good 35 wire

Your channel has come a long way. You started in an empty shop. Now you've got this man-cave thing going on, and your videos are edited very well. Can you believe that you make better video content than most television shows? -- I use an Everlast PowerTIG 185 DV almost exclusively on 120. My welds aren't anything special, but It has gotten me through 95% of my projects. One of these days, I'll get 240 in the shop.
@JustVoss
@JustVoss 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words, I hope to keep growing and getting better. 185 is still a lot of power if you run it on 220v but if 110 is working then that’s great!
@Dr_Xyzt
@Dr_Xyzt 10 ай бұрын
@@JustVoss Yeah. It maxes out at 125 amps off 110v. That's fine for 90% of what I do. 16 ga steel and .090 aluminum. I used 220V at someone else's shop and I'm perfectly satisfied with this welder. The wireless foot pedal is next on my agenda.

Not trying to sound like a know it all, but if you would quit dipping your tig wire and leave it in the puddle as you advance you will get better looking welds and more control as you learn how to feed the wire and not dip it in and out. Looks like a solid little machine, especially for the price. Hope I didn't come off as being pretentious in this comment, just a tip from a veteran pipe welder of over 40 years. Your mig welding game seems to be on point.

That's why they call it stick welding ;) A trick for stick welding -- is think before stopping the weld puddle instantly coming out of the puddle FLICK THE ROD --- this is to get rid of the flux off the end - so you have bear metal - to more early to strike the ark --- much like a new rod BEAR TIP ;)
