You should give it a go! It's easily my favourite show. It's very similar to Black Mirror, as they're both anthology horror series, but I prefer No.9 for how the stories are normally about more human issues and relationships, rather than technology.

This channel actually is what introduced me to the show, like a year ago. I'm British but I don't watch normal TV (only streaming stuff instead) so I'd never heard of this, but he said it was similar to Black Mirror. Frankly it might even be better than black mirror. It's incredible. Every episode is a completely new story, and each of them has a twist at the end which recontextualises the entire episode so that you have to go back and watch it again, knowing what you know now, and it makes it even better. I recall implore everybody watch it. Some episodes are funny, some are quite sad and bittersweet. They know how to really tug at your heartstrings when they want to, which is impressive when each episode is only half an hour. Because of how good this show is I went and watched the show that made them (and Mark Gatiss) famous in the first place, The League of Gentleman, which is also great. I need to watch Psychoville now too as that's written by Shearsmith and Pembleton also, and is what they did between the league of gentlemen and Inside no 9

In response to all the comments here Yes this is nine minutes long Guy in stocks at beginning is Bobby Davro and he is alive and well (although he has whiplash from incident) Yes this was an actual live show which went out on 28 October 2018 on BBC Two Yes all that occurred was planned by Pemberton and Shearsmith That thing at 8.51 is the 'ghost' that 'attacks' Reece Shearsmith The whispered ' let us be ' is from the end of the actual episode This ends as it does as that is show the actual episode ends . There is no part 2 Pemberton and Shearsmith are alive and well and planning series 6 of this show

The big buildup of it all and the psychological horror induced as an intended episode “goes wrong” with the sound cutoff and fake broadcast is genius. Props to the people (and ghosts) who did this. The ghosts just wanted to chill but there was a theatre production built over thousands of dead bodies so the ghosts decided to take revenge by making the episode go horribly wrong

Fun fact: The BBC's actually tried something like this before. In 1992, there was this TV special that they aired on Halloween called "Ghostwatch". It was basically presented as a live version of later shows like Most Haunted, with a TV crew searching through a supposedly haunted house on the outskirts of London. Later on, however, what would appear to be an actual ghost was found by the crew, and the show would simulate that it was being haunted, with the ghost transmitting itself through the TV signals and toying with the audience. Unlike this, however, it was much more controversial because of how it was presented, with some viewers, most of which naturally being children, thinking that it was actually real. Apparently a mentally ill man killed himself because of how the show impacted him, and the creators had to issue a formal apology because they didn't make the fact that it was fictional clear enough. So, I suppose the idea fared better when Inside No. 9 did it.

I have a soft spot for Found Footage movies. I can watch like the worst ones and still enjoy them. Only that genre of horror tho. Kinda weird. (I like pretty much all movies for one reason or another, just FF is like "Yessir" every time.) Ghostwatch is legit one of my favorite movies, not even just horror. I kept seeing it in "best of FF" lists. British horror is verrry hit or miss for me. Oddly enough though, I had been looking through lots of those lists and was on a horror-youtube kick, and it popped up in Suggested Vids. And I totally didn't connect it. "Ghostwatch? From 1992? If someone cared enough to put it up, it must be worth watching." (It's on YT, btw). I googled it real quick, saw like first line of the synopsis ("a live ghost hunt on Halloween") and immediately canceled plans. I've seen it... 6 times now? It's not perfect, but that kinda adds to the charm. The first time I saw it, I thought it was like the ur-Ghost Hunter show. So imagine my surprise when... don't wanna spoil it for everybody, but the editors in that, and the announcer guy, everything is so well-done. I believe someone could have killed themselves. There really aren't any indicators it's fake, and it used the BBC News guy at the time. I may be slightly biased bc of my love of FF, but it's still incredibly original and legitimately terrifying. It reminded me of the first time I saw Blair Witch, but with a better ending. "What's that you say? Can we run back the footage again?" Quite literally just gave myself a chill up the spine just typing that. Anyone reading this who digs horror, check it out. (It also very subtly and lovingly takes the piss out of the BBC, while being a TV movie on the BBC. So there's that too.)

I said it was weird when Reece's character gave enough explanation in the small section of the 'live episode' with sound, then laughed when 'A Quiet Night In' came on, being without dialogue. I'm in the US and would sometimes watch rips of Inside No. 9 with friends. We had to make two attempts to watch this one. First time, we thought the sound cutting out was a problem with the video player and literally stopped watching just before the BBC broadcast interruption happened. We tried a different player and had the same problem, so we assume one was a bad rip and the other copied it. Then next week, I bothered to look up info on the episode and realized if we had waited one second longer we would have realized it was part of the show. Felt like idiots XD

I just want to say that I watched this before I ever watched or heard of Number 9 or the live episode Deadline. This video explanation does an EXCELLENT job at providing context that allows the viewer to be put right in the headspace they need to be to watch Deadline, but it doesn’t spoil the experience at all. I appreciated and was thoroughly more entertained by Deadline than I would have been going in blind. Thank you for making this!
