Yes it's a beast. Faster than FAMAS the AN 94 on burst is 1200 rpm but like the M16 you need to find the sweat spot or jam.

The M16A4 also has better bullet velocity than many of the other assault rifles, which is part of what makes single fire or controlled bursts so good for it at longer ranges. That coupled with high RPM at close range when you get the timing down makes for one of the best guns that nobody uses.

The M16 is my most used weapon in BF4, it's a marvelously underappreciated rifle. Takes a little practice, but it's remarkably versatile, especially on the bigger maps. Generally run it with an ACOG, heavy barrel, angled grip, and either a laser or canted irons to aid in close range. Pairs wonderfully with the Serbu Super Shorty.

"...very rarely see people use it." That's odd.. maybe it's the servers you frequent but this weapon is still a staple of the Assault class both on PC and Console. This video honestly surprised me. The M16A4 was the main load out you faced back at launch and I still find myself facing it today, years later. This would be an interesting study actually, on what players from different regions use the most. Maybe the meta changed over the years, I dont know. I personally haven't played core mode in ages. All I play is hardcore conquest so I guess for us it makes sense that we use single/burst fire modes on our weapons.

On Consoles this gun is used alot because it allows DS4 players to deal with people camping Headglitches/Campers in general. Its far easier to use over an AEK at range.

Try the compensator....it keeps a tighter grouping (bullet spread) and the angled grip turns it into a Lazer. I personally use the HD-33 optic over the reflex. It gives you more sight picture.

You should try the AUG A3, the SAR-21 and the AR160. They are all laser beam accurate but have a rather slow-medium rate of fire. However the recoil is mostly non-existent. In my opinion they are pretty underrated, especially the AR160. I have very rarely seen anybody running around with it
