“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” - Hebrews 13:2 In this song, the person asking for the dollar was The Messiah. The dollar cost the rich man a spot in God’s Eternal Kingdom. He was then told by The Messiah to embrace his loss. Most people misquote the Bible and say “money is the root of all evil” but that’s not what it says. It says “THE LOVE of money is the root of all evil”. He loved his money so much that he couldn’t even spare a dollar. How much a dollar cost?? Your soul if you ain’t wise.

@@recipoldinasty It’s your life and your choice. I believe in what I believe in because I literally witnessed the presence of God for myself and He literally pulled me out of the absolute darkest times of my life when everything else I tried couldn’t. So my belief isn’t based on something I read or heard, it’s based on a series of specific events and experiences in my life. And at the end of it all, it boiled down to a different “R” word. Relationship, not religion. But that’s me though. Like I said before, your life...your choice. You say “peace” and that’s exactly what I have. I spent a large part of my life without it. No matter what I tried. I didn’t have peace and I wasn’t peaceful. All that has changed. I hope one day you have an encounter of your own that will show you just how real God is. And if you do and still choose not to believe, well...again, it’s your life and your choice. Shalom.

I have never had as big an emotional reaction to a song as when I finally figured out the story behind this song a couple months after the album came out. This shit so crazy like Kendrick has got to be the craziest story telling lyricist in rap history and pretty much music history cause rap was really the first genre to tell stories like this. The fact he can spin stories in each song that can stand alone yet be a part of a cohesive album story as well is just unbelievable. How does someone’s mind work at that level of art.
