In The Mandalorian, Ahsoka didn't look very good, the most jarring part being her lekku being the same size as Ahsoka at the start of Clone Wars. But it was clear that the actress went through a lot of training so she could handle lekku that she'd be given in Ahsoka, which look much better and more accurate to the Ahsoka we know. I appreciated that a lot.

But this is Disney, they have the money. There's 170 million put on this show. How can they not put more aliens into this show? It's a big part of Star Wars. The first three movies did a good job and they had a quartering of the budget that Disney had. In their hands, including if we calculate inflation into this .Feels weird.
@starbirdecho4 ай бұрын
also to add; if they couldnt make the main character's design look good and be practical at the same time... why not just make it animated, especially considering how the show is already a sequel to an animated show
@EcopiuM4 ай бұрын
But they are. We've already seen more aliens in this show than any of the other shows.
@XieRH19884 ай бұрын
Having the money doesnt necessarily imply they will spend the money on delivering some specific thing that you somehow feel you need to have Also they might deliver it and you might still complain anyway because suddenly you have 'standards' and things need to be 'good enough for you'. So along come the critiques like like oh, the CGI looks bad, or the costumes look cheap, or whatever. FYI that's the complaints that shows like Obi Wan got, eg. with how the Grand Inquisitor (who is a non-human) looked.
@williamcooper85994 ай бұрын

as far as I remember, the only “legacy aliens” to show up in the sequel trilogy were named characters like Chewbacca and Nien Nunb, until Admiral Ackbar’s son appeared in _The Rise of Skywalker._ allegedly there is also an Ithorian somewhere in that movie, as well as some Ewoks (one of whom is named) and Jawas in the end montage. and technically, the species of Embo the bounty hunter from _The Clone Wars,_ the Kyuzo, appear in the background as Constance Zuvio and company, but they were ultimately cut from the movie aside from some background shots, and then being Kyuzo seemed like a bit of a retcon based solely on their hat design.

Physical makeup is nothing when compared to drawing, coloring, drying valuable cels or readying digital paints, and timing them sequentially well on paper or computer storyboards. Really, these live action sods have picked the wrong medium to try out their work, regardless if it's great or terribad.

The costumes also just look…really cheap? Like they look like bad cosplay costumes. They just have no detail and they look so badly put together. It feels a lot like Kenobi where the budget just doesn’t show in the end product…AGAIN.

Ahsoka looked pretty good in her show (except for that time when she took off her headband 😱). the only change I would make if I could would be to give her some sort of eyebrows… I know she doesn’t have hair, but what about just some scaley bits where her eyebrows would normally be? they could even be white to blend in with her facial markings, but they’d just give her a bit more humanity and expressiveness. …and I suppose her lekku could be longer, but I’m convinced they made that one episode of _Tales of the Jedi,_ where we see her home village, to retcon her into being a different subspecies of Togruta that have short lekku… 🤔

If they managed to have scenes where Ki Adi Mundi, Kit Fisto, and various other Jedi with heavy makeup in choreographed action sequences, why couldn't they have given Ahsoka slightly longer horns/Montrals and lekku with CGI?
@XieRH19884 ай бұрын
what action heavy scene did ki adi mundi and kit fisto have in live action that had a lot of action choreography? For ki adi mundi all I remember is seeing him gunned down during Order 66, and for Kit Fisto it was like a blink and miss moment where Palpatine killed him along with the other 2 jedi, leaving only Palpatine and Windu to do the actual 'real' fighting.

I'm sorry, the bad makeup effect of the disney shows, isn't that easily excusable. Yes there are limits to what is acheivable in real life, but if you compare the consmetics of characters from the disney shows to effects from doctor who, you can see way more inhuman effects acheived on a shoe string budget, over a decade ago. Plus they can alway use Vfx to extend or enhance what isn't perfect on set, it has been done within hours of episodes release, by hobbiests. And the Grand inquiristor is the product of nothing but laziness on designers/directors/producers' parts. Stop excusing lazy filmaking for one of the most lucrative compainies on the planet.

Agreed. My major grievance with Ahsoka was the script and the two lead actresses. I like Rosario as an actress, but she was terrible in Ahsoka. Extremely long pauses and the most wooden delivery I have ever seen. Sure, she can’t do much if the script isn’t good, but it just felt like I was watching two people that were called up from the audience to act out a scene on stage.
@Matt..S4 ай бұрын
Ahsoka is the only good thing about the show. Everyone else is just terrible. Bad actors or actors uncomfortable with their roles. Thrawn clearly hated the makeup which resulted in this castrated costume, basically just blue facepaint. In fact, Ahsoka in Mando was the reason why I as an adult starting liking the character. Much better than the childish animated version. Rosario gave us such a settled and wise character.
