Roy passed away on 12/6/88 from a massive heart attack, his song ( You Got It ) was released 1 month after his passing, it was one of his biggest hits, he was only 52 years old, God Bless Big O, he was a wonderful man and, everything he wrote came from his heart! Oh how we missed tender hearted Roy, like Elvis, they'll never be another one like him! RIP Big O! He still has so many great songs out there guy's that as fan's of Roy's you have to listen to, All Big O's songs are great, he never recorded a bad song! Thank you!

Roy Orbison has an incredible range to his voice and like many, taken too soon. You Got It was released a month after he died of a heart attack, I believe in his early 50s.

You Got It" was written by Orbison and his Traveling Wilburys bandmates Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. Their first songwriting collaboration, it was written during the Christmas season of 1987 and recorded in Mike Campbell's garage in Los Angeles, California in April 1988.

Roy Orbison had one of the most smooth powerful voices. He could sing real high falsetto & also low. Elvis Presley loved Roy's voice. Roy had lots of hits in the 60's such as "Only the Lonely", "Running Scared", "In Dreams", "Love Hurts", "Blue Bayou" & "Oh, Pretty Woman". In 1988, he co-founded the Traveling Wilburys (a rock supergroup) with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, & Jeff Lynne. They had a lot of great songs such as "Handle With Care" & "End Of The Line".

The response of the crowd to this incredible artist who was making music even before a lot of them were born is a testament to Roy's enduring talent & power to give his fans "anything they wanted". Just as cool as a black-clad cucumber, too.

Roy had a career that went from stratospheric highs to lows in the abyss and back. Every time his career would take off he'd suffer some tragedy that would kick his feet out from under him. Finally in his early fifties he was having success as part of the Traveling Wilburys at the same time his solo career was booming again. He was busting his tail for both projects and basically worked himself to death at 52, dying of a heart attack.

Roy gave his first and only public performance of this song at the Diamond Awards Festival, November 19,1988, in Antwerp, Belgium, just 17 days before his untimely death. The song was released posthumously on January 3, 1989, after Orbison's death from a heart attack on December 6, 1988 and became a top ten hit. Alas, Roy never lived to see the worldwide success of his last big hit.

Orbison's friend Tom Petty wrote this song for him, and Jeff Lynne (also a friend) from the Electric Light Orchestra produced the single. Both were in the Traveling Wilbury's with Orbison. Orbison's voice was so good technically, he and Enrico Caruso (classical tenor of the early 20th century) were the only 20th century tenors capable of hitting E over high C.

Yes, Roy Orbison is truely one of a kind. Starting off with Rockabilly in the late 50´s, he was another musician that was discovered by Sam Phillips, the owner of Sun Studios in Memphis. In the 60´s, he had massive sucess throughout the whole decade with hits like Pretty Woman (1964). Suffering from major throwbacks due to catastrophes in his family, he pretty much disapperared from the scene in 1970 and stayed under the radar for over a decade. No commercial suceess whatsoever, and a bypass operation in 1977. But then, in the 80´s, his old hits from the 60´s suddenly started to gain popularity again. He therefore he was able to revive his career, as he worked with Jeff Lynn from ELO in the supergroup Travelling Wilburys. This gave him such a boost that he recorded new material himself in 1988, a lot of studio work, interviews duets with KD Lang and performances. Tha Black and White Night is just one example. Unfortunately, he pretty much worked himself to death in that period so that he was´nt able to enjoy the sucess of his comeback in the end and died before he could witness his own greatness one more time at the age of only 52 in December of 1988.

The Big O one of the all-time greats and most influential artists in rock and roll. This concert was in Antwerp, Belgium on November 19, 1988 where he received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Diamond Awards. The media once asked Elvis how it felt to have the best voice. Elvis responded, and I quote: "I don't know. Ask Roy Orbison". True story. Orbison's tenor is one of the finest ever. Had he chose that path, he would have been greater than Caruso.

There's a couple voices in rock 'n' roll that can't be anybody else. You'll never mistake them for someone else. Roy Orbison is at the top of that list, just ahead of Freddie Mercury. You know how I know? People do impressions of Elvis. They do impressions of Bob Dylan. But there's nobody who can do an impression of Roy Orbison.

You finally got around to Elvis's favorite singer you know Elvis Presley . Well he thought that Roy had the voice of an Angel. And one of the greatest singers people like Bob Dylan and George Harrison Tom Petty and soul so many others like Elvis Costello oh my God Bruce Springsteen they all clamored to work with him. From what I understand it was Jeff Lynne that got Roy involved with the Traveling Wilburys because he had quote wanted to work and record with Roy and he and Tom and George Harrison had all been hanging out and I just drugged Bob Dylan along for the ride lol. But like someone said once and won the comments who wouldn't want to be a part of that😅
