The Traveling Wilburys were in this song as well. That’s why it is so good. The Harrison acoustic sound and the backing vocals make this a Roy classic. BTW, after Elvis and Johnny Cash left Sun Records came Roy Orbison to Memphis and Sun Records!

The crazy thing about this fact is the music video! I call it the original deep fake where they use footage of him to fabricate him singing this song live on stage.

“In Dreams” is a great song that shows off his wonderful vocal range. He had poor eyesight and normally wore thick lenses in his glasses. He left them on a plane when he traveled to the UK to do a tour with the Beatles so he wore his sunglasses on stage because of the strong lights, it then became a feature of his act. He was a natural blonde but dyed his hair black as part of that image. Something that Engelbert Humperdinck (previously known as Gerry Dorsey) also did.

5:29 "Look At This Album Cover Art, With The Slicked-Back Hair And The Cool Guy Shades" Hey, Sam, here's an interesting backstory on those "Cool Guy Shades": Early in his career, Roy Orbison played a gig where he'd misplaced his eyeglasses and was forced to use his prescription sunglasses during the show. Apparently, he'd gotten an overwhelmingly positive response from the audience and continued using his prescription sunglasses during concerts

Roy Orbison had such a tragic life, losing his wife and 2 sons in a house fire. After years of decline, his career made a comeback with the Traveling Wilburys only to have his life cut short by a heart attack.

Another reactor did a vocal analysis of Roy's voice. Roy had the ability (no singing lessons), to go exactly to the note he wanted with no over or undershoot. Vocal control that is virtually unmatched to this day.

The single reached number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Adult Contemporary chart, returning Orbison to the top 10 for the first time in 25 years. You Got It is probably my favorite Orbison hit. The music he did before he died is arguably better than anything he had ever done before. There’s so many songs of his that deserve reactions. Crying, In Dreams, She’s a Mystery to Me, Only the Lonely, Running Scared, the list goes on and on. Glad to see Roy get more exposure from a younger audience. For the Traveling Wilburys, you can’t really go wrong with any of their music. End of the Line and Handle with Care are good starter points. Roy did a solo with the Wilburys called Not Alone Anymore that I strongly recommend.

Roy Orbison had a tough life. His first wife cheated on him, which is when I think the song "Its Over" came out, then they got back together. Then they were riding motorcycles together and a car hit her, killing her. Later 2 of his 3 children were killed in a house fire. I have been a fan of his from the get go. Do more of him. The Big O accidentally developed his sunglasses image while on a U.K. tour with the Beatles in 1963. “He had left his regular glasses on a plane, right before the tour," Roy Jr. Stated : "He had the dark glasses with him and decided to keep wearing them. DAD WASN’T ABLE TO SEE WITHOUT GLASSES. When he got off the plane in England, people were taking pictures and that's what they saw, Dad with the dark glasses."

I don't believe this song (his last hit, recorded in 1988) is any more awesome than his 60's hits - say Pretty Woman, recorded in 1964. But sounds so good because it was recorded 24 years later, and technology had long advanced. To my ear, the biggest recording advances occurred much earlier, between 63 and 68. The Beatles recordings, who were able to use the best studio equipment of their times, best showcase these advances.
