I know Sohini personally as a long back she did a video with me "I did my subscriber's makeup". She is such a calm, introvert and sweet person she would never shout on anyone. I know even if the MUA was not present that day then also maybe Sohini wouldn't have said a single bad word. She is like that only. I spent only 2-3 hrs that day at her place and I realised that she is really a family oriented, kind hearted, soft spoken and calm person. ❤

My make up artist ruined my engagement day. I knew her since long time and have always recommended her to my friends in their events. Because of me she received 5-6 new clients. So when it was my event, i thought she would be super supportive. She offered to take less from me. But that was amount was compensated for the make up of my mother in law and my sister in law. I asked her multiple times at what time she expected me at the venue to get ready. She was always super chill and said i will tell you. Don't worry about it. She didn't inform me even on the day of the event. After multiple follow ups , at 1.30 PM she asked me to arrive at the venue at 2PM. I was somewhere else as i was the only one managing my event without much support from anyone. I rushed to my home , i hadn't had lunch. We had organised lunch for everyone at a restaurant. I was going to go there without eating anything. But my family insisted that i should eat first. So i went to the restaurant, ate really fast and reached the venue by 2:40... She started complaining to me for being late. She finished my make up hurriedly and said your hair and saree draping will be done by my assistant. She left the assistant with me who was barely 20 years old which put me to a lot of stress. As it was my engagement day i wanted everything to be perfect. The assistant was ok but she was unable to do the hairstyle i asked her to do. When i complained she was very rude with me. She said look at the face of the girl in the picture you are showing to me. Look at your face. The hairstyle will not look the same on you etc. I got hurt and started crying. Somehow i composed myself and got my hairstyle done which took a lot of time. Which in turn left us no time for the photographs. The assistant did the make up of my mother in law and sister in law but they didn't like it. She didn't even help them wrap a saree properly. The event was delayed. Later i was supposed to change into a ball gown. But the vidhis were getting delayed. So i couldn't change until they were over. The assistant repeatedly came to me to ask my permission to go. My dress was really heavy and i couldn't change without her assistance. I had to request her multiple times to stay. It was really stressful for me. And ruined my engagement. Highly unethical behaviour by the make up artist. Especially from someone i trusted and helped.

For you it might be another client, but she gets to be a bride only once. And I agree with the before after process. Being an introvert myself i have never posted a before picture bcz i know not everyone would be comfortable with it. Making your client comfortable is the first thing you do.

It happend to my sister also she had to attend her engagement. she hired a mua from instagram and also paid advance and one day before they asked to pay pending amount too. so my sister paid it because she didn't wanted to create any fuss about it.non engagment day eventhough they reached early they were behaving so rude towards everyone. and while doing makeup my sister said she doesn't want to do much cakey makeup keep it light but elegent but they ignored her and did so heavy makeup the theme of dress was pink and my sister already informed them to do use pinkish and white,purple eyeshadow they still ignored her and did makeup with red eyeshadow and left. the makeup was lookig just odd with dress that my sister had to remove the makeup and do it again by herslef and with help of her friends. this type of incidents are happening alot. at this moment I don't even if I should trust any mua from internet!

On my first wedding anniversary I hired a MUA, he was not just professional but so friendly. Listened to what I said and then he also discussed his views and created a beautiful look. This is absolutely true about this makeup artist. As I have myself witnessed almost the similar case with my friend. Her wedding took place at Barrackpore(Kolkata) last year.This guy was 4-5hours late than the due time and he reached at the last moment. The bride has even cried out of worry and anxiety. Highly condemnable behaviour. I just hope truth should come out to the mass and no other woman should suffer on her big day because of such unprofessional behaviour of such people.

This is the very reason why I went to the venue to get my makeup done! I just have a bad feeling when I have to wait for someone to come! And I wasn’t comfortable with the video recording and all being an introvert and I’m so happy my artists didn’t even bother and was like more concerned about getting me ready than recording for social media! I was already not in favour of hiring a MUA for myself be it any event as they can't be trusted with white washing dusky skin tone, they often charge for demo work and the fact that we need different products for different skin types combined with the hygiene aspect triggers my OCD every time, I decided to learn makeup and do it myself no matter however big an event will be and this surely is a new fear unlocked, money is certainly not a matter for everyone but then it is for a lot of us. To cope with that amount of stress at the last moment on your day is heartbreaking!!

Thanks for raising this topic.. yes, it totally uncomfortable to be in live stream while getting ready. Sometimes they capture the dress drapping also. We as a bride are not so professional. We are not comfortable in front of the camera. Because of live stream or recording we cannot even talk with out family member. Even they post the bride picture without their permission. We pay money for the makeup. We are allowing you to do the makeup.. if someone does not want to click a single pic that is also her right...

Once a friend of mine who's a mua asked me to help her by being model for her for the makeup no payment nothing but agreed just for the sake of friendship but when she posted the results I was shocked. She first applied some sort of oil on my face saying it'll help you with the allergies and reactions I was like okay.... But you know what she took a picture of mine in a dark room with a very bad angle and with that oil on like no proper lighting and no filter and then for the after results she posted a picture she took in the balcony and natural sunlight she used a better camera and edited it with lots and lots of filters. Making it seem ki she completely changed my complexion. I was looking black in the first picture and totally white washed in the second. I was so disappointed and ashamed after that because people started commenting like "this is why you should be aware and not trust anyone... Girls aise hi hote .. makeup can make you Beautiful and what not. " It made me loose my self confidence so much that I started believing that My complexion is bad even when I don't have any pigmentation she showed a lot of pigmentation and uneven skin in that picture and I started believing it's true and I look ugly and what not. Took me an year to get over it..

I often noticed that Mua use their own products that they bring with them such as lipstick, eyeliner, etc. And they intentionally reject our products and refuse that. I think it's not right because there may be a potential risk of using same products on different clients. It may spread contagious diseases

I agree with you but not completely.There are certain products that don't go well with eachother for example Moisturizer ,primer , foundation , conceler , powder and setting spray ,even blush ,highlighter and eyeshadow primers . Not every product work with every product. i.e : silicone based products don't go with water based products and make can seaprate if their is difference . A good Makeup artist knows what products go well with eachother . Moreover a good professional usually disinfect the products .

My MUA took 30k and made me uglier than ever. I swear it hurts when I see my pictures and my in laws chit chat about how ugly I looked after the makeup. My marriage day was a complete disaster. Both wedding and reception makeup were too ugly, wierd colors and even the photographers fucked up plus they were extremely costly, like they alone took a lakh or something. It is such a bad memory probably one of the worst memories. Plus the MUA was 3 hours late. Been through all this and I had spent so much on the wedding just for it to be so good as per plan. It is really hurtful. I look all ok without any makeup cuz I don't do any makeup other than a simple kajal. I am so done for this life with makeup and MUAs. 3 events 2 MUAs costing 50k plus. And photos were worse than that. I swear it still pains thinking of it cuz I really wanted to look good for myself and my husband , for photos and families. Dude some people are really unprofessional I swear. Not a single good photo. Edit: And sadly I couldn't even speak up. I feel so bad and frustrated. Didn't utter a single word. Very true happened with me as well , MUA started asking for too many extra charges on the last moment so I have to cancel the order , lost my advance paid too . Very irritating thing in most important day of my life

My MUA lied that she can do the bridal make up... After spending 2 hours and me being very patient, I finally gave up when her eye liner was uneven after trying and rubbing 3 times.. She used all my products tho it was not part of the deal. When I started to pointing out the parts like her eye liner didnt match, my lipstick was un even and she applied too much blush which didnt even go with the rest of the make, she started shouting on me instead saying i dnt know what make up looks like and proceeded to leave. She didnt even stayed to help with the saaree and hair...after making my hair all crunchy with hair spray...Finally I had to wash my whole face becoz of the smudges she made and I went for my wedding reception with whatever I could do in 10 mins. No hairstyle and normal style saaree..and bare minimum accessory as I didnt had the time to put them on. There after she proceeded to call my husband and bitch that she has been dis respected .. The night was ruined and the humiliation and anxiety is unexplanable

This is why i do not give importance to "much followed" muas. In Bangladesh the biggest muas do not even do makeup themselves, acts cheap and do not take your words! I got ready and did my makeup on my own in my haldi. And did my makeup by a local new mua who does the makeup by herself. And she did a splendid job!!

This is what happens when you start acting like they are doing a huge favour to you. Let's call a spade a spade. These are just make-up salon people, not super-specialist surgeons. You are paying them, so you are their boss during that time. It's actually ridiculous that simply having social media following (which can be bought) they can make a fool of you. Always book reputed people for your special day or simply book at a salon. And don't allow them to use your photos unless you actually want to.
