The Racer's Grand Prix was set to ignite with the men's 100 meters, a show stopping event pitting the world champion against the bronze medalist and Jamaica's own sensation, Oblique Seville, who was riding the wave of a national resurgence in men's track and field on his home turf.

I think that De Grasse, Hughes, Tebogo, and even (depending on how they round into form) Omanyala, Jacobs, and Sani-Brown can all disrupt that top 4. Not to mention that there are always new players entering the game each year who we don’t already know about. All in all, I’d place a good amount of money that those four you listed won’t be the top four.

Oblique, congrats but his crazy start won the race for him. However, In the Olympics watch Noah Lyles is going to turn up the volume/heat up on Oblique and run something crazy watch when the time comes. He can play like he is slowing down in this race all he wants, but Noah Lyles was walking him down but ran out of real estate. Noah Lyles needs to work on his start and if he can improve that part of his race he will cook Oblique like a rotisserie chicken and possibly come close to a world record, especially with his top-end speed talent he has. The slow start has always been Noah Lyles Achilles Hill in races folks. The truth is that Noah Lyles' top-end speed is unmatched today's sprinting in the 100 and 200 meters races but his start has always been his big problem and kept him from being ready to challenge and possibly break world records. Just go and review any of his races and you will clearly see my point.

Good quick start for Seville.. putting him in an advantage distance of a meter or 2.. Lyle is still faster tho and accelerating every second.. catching up pretty quick.. if there was a meter more to go, Lyle will definitely win. Lyle is not a quick or exploding starter (nearly all his races). He needs to work on it I guess. My 2 cents thought is, if they go out evenly together, Seville will not have a chance. Congratulations to Seville for the win tho.. well deserve

@avegupsitroc239 8 ай бұрын
Of course it's not 105m 🙂. I know that! My point was, lyle was accelerating in speed while Seville is was sort of the same (from what I saw and my personal view). Seville's time is fast for sure, no doubt about that, and a leading in the world right now!.. hope he keep up his current outstanding form come the Olympics. The 2024 season just started. Times can change and can be defeated and what ever time sprinters put out right now doesn't guarantee a sprinter athlete a medal at the most important event.. the olympics. 9.82s is a leading time at the moment (and Lyle's time is not far off either.. 9.85s) just a dip, a forwarded chest a torso can determine an end race. I'm pretty sure all the 100m sprinters around the world will set 9.82s as their target from now on.. and it's exciting to see what other times these100m sprinters (including seville and lyle) will put out in the coming weeks and months going up to the Olympics Let's wait and see. All the best to them

Good race by Oblique but before you all get too excited, he ran some version of 9.8 last year, and still got beat by Noah in the world championship. 19.31 is way more impressive than 9.8. Oblique has to run has to run 4 rounds of 100m in the Olympics, which is easier said than done. Noah at his best has a potential to run a 9.6 sec 100m.

Noah Lyles' potential at his best is 9.7. Look i understand that Lyles is fast but 9.6 is really legendary territory (Bolt, Blake and Gay), and I dont see Lyles beating anyone of them. Theu always say if such athlete works on his/her start they would be unbeatable. Well tjat is the issie with Lyles. I dont particularly remember Lyles have good starts and he has been running since 2018 at the top level. Yesterday was a perfect example if he gets a good start he wins and runs a massive 9.7? But because he never ever make those good start hence a 9.82 gets the better of him. He is still the favourite for the Olympics but Seville has sent a message loud and clear 'HE IS GETTING A MEDAL IN PARIS IF ALL GOES WELL.'

Did Oblique Seville just do a Boy's Champs diss to Noah Lyles by staring him down while crossing the finish line? In the last 2 Boys Champs if you noticed, nobody even does that schit anymore - the boys have been coached to stop it because it's disrespectful to your opponents. Yet here is Seville still doing that schoolboy schit! If you remember in the last 2 World Champs, Seville didn't have time or opportunity to look across at anyone, because all effort was focused on coming in fourth or fifth! I don't think the act is lost on Lyles. He felt Seville's stare and deliberately kept his head straight, (not even trying to see time) while crossing the line. But what Seville did is equivalent to trash talk in basketball! You know what happened to people who trash-talked Michael Jordan during a game - he scores 40+ and you get the tongue out whilst he's dunking on you! In the coming weeks, expect Seville to get dunked on with the tongue out, everywhere he meets Noah Lyles. Unless...unless, coach Mills and Seville know something we don't know. Unless Glen Mills has transformed Oblique Seville into the Black Mamba (Kobe Bryant) and is about to unleash him on the sprint world.
