For the trams, a cool idea for a more old-school tram would be the Czech Tatra T3, or if that is a bit too old the 14T and 15T are also great options. (BTW the old T3 trams (1962-97) are still running alongside the new ones in Prague, built to last)

The Recycling Drop Off Center also works in conjunction with the other buildings from the Modular Recycling collection by avanya (such as the Recycling Sorting Center which you did already place). There are two versions of the collection, one which requires Sunset Harbor and another one which doesn't; for full functionality, make sure that you got the one with Sunset Harbor. They will do the same job as the vanilla Waste Processing Complex while allowing for more creativity and creating goods for the city.

Cablecars are impractical most of the time
@Sparkiebc2 жыл бұрын
They’re fun to build and look at but they’re objectively the worst modes of transit. Cable cars have very low throughput, meaning they can only really be used to scale steep slopes with transit service Monorails, oh boy where do I begin, leaving out all their problems irl and just focusing on this game. Too expensive to build Too expensive to maintain Far Less throughput than a train (despite requiring the same amount of space to build) Very hard to build fluent networks, usually point to point Their only real benefit is that you can run them in a median of a road, which isn’t even that important when you have mods. Over-road train+metro tracks exist, as well as better elevated stations. Bud Rapid Transit can also utilize space in a road right of way, as well as a tram. Overall just no real reason to build one unless you like the aesthetic or want to use it as a tourist attraction

12:00 I would have put the train station where you put the bus depot. Make a side road off that main one where it connects both bus depot and train station. Train station is farther back where you have more room to manipulate the track. It's also taking up less room where you can place more things down like maybe parking.

As much as I had to say about the bus hub and its fugly metal barriers, I now have to say: This modal connector / transit hub you built this episode is amazingly beautiful. And the best part is: You manage to make it look good while still being realistic - there's a hyper modern train station, but the bus depot looks like it was built in the 80s and just refurbished, while the green space around has a definitive manecured-but-made-to-look-natural vibe going on. I also like that you included parking, but not at exzessive levels. It feels like a space that was a really ugly edge-of-town port of entry, maybe it even had its own highway exit once but that was removed, that was then recently "done up" as a project to grow the city along the transit axis.

Hi Biffa. Since you asked for tram models, I recommend the Alstom loop tram (capacity:75) for low-medium ridership routes. For medium-high ridership routes, I use the City Tram (capacity:120). And then, for very high ridership routes, I recommend the E-Class Tram Melbourne (capacity:210). As you can see, I don't use the in-game trams because I think they look rather hideous.

A connection from the highway to the intercity bus hub would be beneficial. As the busses are coming from outside the city, they will come on the highways. At the moment, they'll have to cut through your town to get there, and sometimes the game generates a lot of intercity busses and it clogs things up. Love the new area, looks great. Also, I've never made much use of the sightseeing tours (only once) and didn't know that the game showed you where the places of interest are. That's a cool thing to know! Thanks.

The Tourist Bus; best I can figure is the model is anchored to the road from the front axel area. Since the bus is wider then the road, the front axel is on the portion of the road that is going 'up' but the route is down. The basic coding to exit the depot is probably 'turn left out of building', but to get to the route, it needs to make a U-turn, so its performing all of these at once.
@amysteele24882 жыл бұрын
I came to a similar conclusion... they're definitely doing a complete 360, and I thought it's because the front end of the bus is protruding onto the left turn carriageway so they have to turn that way to go right

As an American who lives in the suburbs, I find 'dead ends' just weird, especially when connections could do so much for traffic flow in some spots (at least in my region - I can't speak for the rest of this country, and cities all have tons of 'em). My eye was twitching when you didn't hook the other end of the bus depot road to anything. LOL; Cul-de-sacs are different - we have plenty of those. In residential areas its fine to simply end a road, but not so much in commercial areas (industrial areas also use mostly dead-ends). A business on a dead-end tends to not stay in-business for long.

Biffa - well maintained and fully functional waste water processing plant will never smell. That part is a myth (I did work in such facility before). Surely it's easier/quicker/neater (not least to provide a consistent offset) to use the parallel road mode from network multitool, to add the fences that follow (but don't even have to be directly alongside) roads/train tracks/retaining walls (or any other network)
@richardlanglois1722 жыл бұрын
I'm confused by the American flags whenever Biffa says "dee-po." Is that recognized as a particularly American pronunciation over "deh-po"? Also, Biffa, for the tram bridge going over the major river: from just beside the sightseeing bus depot to the bridge proper, you'll want the Slope tool (there's a single segment that's particularly steep). And then, for the bridge itself: that last segment on the fishery side can be made the same length as all the rest by using the "Arrange at Line" tool (from Network Multitool); thsy tool will distribute all the nodes evenly across the selected length. Lovely video, as always. I look forward to waking up Saturdays to your vids, they're my morning coffee TV.

Just an idea I had while you were building the railway/bus hub. What about putting railway at the back, railway can then pass under new bridge sections, u may have room for both directions on main line. Won't need tunnels, just put in bridge sections. Similar to what u did with intercity building. Then place other buildings facing railway station, so not on main road. Road between them, including pedestrian crossings. All buses, trams can stop on road between the buildings. It can even be one way from main road as a loop. Think it will look better, all stops will then be off main road when it starts to become much busier. Keep up the great video's.

Oi Biffa, did you know you can use the1-2 segment long bus-only pedestrian lanes to add mid street crosswalks with lights, and you don’t need to have placed any pedistrian zone to use it. I’ve been using it when I have walking paths connecting zoned industry to residential across rivers/lakes. Bridge over the river. Little bus lane pedestrian road on and boom, a node added with 0 congestion outside of active pedestrian presence.

Are the sightseeing busses getting confused because there’s a median road (they spawn half across the median) going immediately into that stop you put down to manipulate their turning point? I feel like the bus tunnel is a little unrealistic, it would have cost a fortune! Maybe you’d be better connecting it straight to the highway, then using the new highway with bus lanes and bringing it into the city that way. You could also upgrade the couplet with highways with bus lanes too so you can have buses in your pedestrian area.

I play on console. When I do my roundabouts, I have cars entering from the inner lanes of the roundabout. Cars exiting the roundabout use outer lanes. Since I can't use traffic manager, I have to manage it in a different manner. It seems to work ok, as long as the roads are placed correctly so incoming and outgoing traffic doesn't cross too much.
