I have this stove and like it a lot. This is a very popular stove in Japan and there is whole host of accessories one can buy for it. A few examples are a lever for the Piezo lighter button to make it easier to light, silicone leg covers in various colours, titanium and stainless steel mini tables that the stove fits into, titanium windshield ( although many just buy a cookie cutter the correct diameter) A popular addition ( not just for this stove) is a thick metal plate for grilling meat or fish (Teppanyaki) I’m UK 🇬🇧 based and purchased my stove and accessories mainly through Amazon Japan, not cheap but no custom charge surprises as all the costs are calculated at the time of purchase. EDIT, some of these accessories will work with the SOTO ST 330 as well, tables will often accommodate both types of stove. Another great use of the mini tables is that a Trangia burner will fit in the opening for the burner head to fit through.

I have had this stove for about 3 months now and it is excellent. Yes, it is too heavy for backpacking. I use it bike packing and car camping. When taling it it car camoing i have been using it with a propane hose adapter combination as a remote gas stove. The performance is top notch. I always used to bring a 2 burner suitcase propane or Coleman whote gas / gasoline stove camping. Lately I've been using remote isobutane stoves, like thiis Soto with propane and i like it. I can even run 3 burners. The Soto is a pleasure to operate. I did add a stainless steel windshield ring to the stove. It really doesn't have much built in wind protection at all. A windshield is essential. The fiddly legs aren't the most glamorous thing here. But once it's together or stowed, then it's good. If the legs were titanium the weight would be super & it wpuld be too expensive! The regulator is one of the main things that sets this above almost any other burner out there. It will use up ALL of the fuel from a butane cassette bomb in a useful way. That is outstanding.i will not get any of the other accessories, but it is nice to know they are out there. For me, the original package functions properly and pleasantly. The black nylon bag it come with for storage is not very good at all. I found a clear plastic box to store it in amd protect it from dust and moisture. I do take it on bike packing trips and it makes dinner time easy and morning brews fast.

We bought ours at REI recently for $60. They now sell some Soto products. One of the attractions of this is the regulator. Our other stoves wouldn't finish the fule cartridges and we had quite few partials hanging around from trips. This stove is able to use up all the fuel and make the most of the fuel. It's amazing how many quick boils we can get out of the used cannisters.

For people who atr concerned about safety use because of tge flame near the butane canister, there is a mini foldable table in which there is a slot to insert the upper four legs in order to separate the canister and the flame.

I debated between this one and the Soto fusion trek plus a campingmoon butane adapter and I’m so glad I did it this way. The fusion trek has a recessed burner like the wind master. The 310 in this video has a convex burner so I don’t anticipate it will do as well in wind. Also nice to have less kit with a small adapter. The campingmoon adapter was way better fit and quality than I expected.

Butane is useless in Canada. Butane is just no good in the cold. Even in the summer it is OK afternoon and evenings but butane will have a hard time boiling water in the mornings. Right now it is -20 F and in those weather nothing beats liquid fuel pressurized stoves. At cold temps butane just will not flow. Having said that we do use butane stoves in the house for hot pots. In warmer climate, such as the Southern states, I can see why this would be a nice option.
@daijoubu45292 жыл бұрын
I use butane with an adapter all the time, if it's cold out, place it closer to the stove/windscreen to get some warmth back. Higher end countertop stoves already have a heat transfer plate to warm the can up during use
@totoroben Жыл бұрын
I like to just run electric for hot pot. No sense in wasting canned fuel when you have much cheaper electric right there, and no stove fumes in the house as well.

I was surfing SOTO stoves and came across the Stormbreaker. Wow, it can use canisters or liquid fuel. It looks like an awesome stove at an AWESOME price but if you're into mountaineering or backpacking in winter this stove rivals anything from MSR at the same price point. It's worth looking at but Amazon doesn't carry it.
@daijoubu45292 жыл бұрын
Liquid fuel is anything but wow to use lol, the smell, the mess, the priming, the ball of fire (and risk of losing your eyebrows) haha, I will rather use propane + adapter first even if It means more weight

I just would like to know, how big your pot was. I think it is the maximum diameter you can put on. It looks like the heat shield for the butane canister is somewhat small. Very sad because I am looking for a good prepper stove, operated on these butane canisters or slightly bigger ones. And you should be able to put on a big pan, because I don't want to cook with my camping gear all day.

@BrokenBackMountains2 жыл бұрын
Not a fan of those butane canisters. They can flare up if not connected properly and need a big heat shield unless connected remotely. They are also useless in the cold. If left connected they can leak. The only advantage is their price. I do have a supply of them to use up that I use on remote stoves with an adapter but only in summer. That would be a nice stove if it used a remote isobutane canister. Just my 10 cents

Thanks for the review Doc. But this leaves me thinking, if this is too heavy for the trail, why not use a single burner, non-collapsible butane stove from Coleman or Chef-Master (or a dozen other companies)? Sure, this one stores away smaller, but if we're packing it in a car, does that matter? Then there is the cost. Over $100.00 or around $30.00 to $50.00.
