I agree with you about the abandoned shopping cart. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. And I have left full carts of food and run out of the store because I was having a full blown panic attack. That has only happened to me twice. If I have a second person with me to talk to, and distract me, then I'm ok.

Wow what a great score! Definitely looks like stuff a guy would buy, lots of meat. Maybe a weight trainer with all the protein yogurt and mangoes for smoothies.And things you all like, lobster dip, mangoes for you, French toast sticks for the girls, scrapple, steak umms, liver wurst , perogies, and croissant sandwiches for frugal daddy and even cat treats for the kitties. One reason why some groceries are thrown away like the steak ums is because people put them in their cart, then realize they can't afford it or want something else, and instead of putting it back on the freezer shelf, they leave anywhere they want, and the stocker has no idea how long it sat out, so has to throw it away. It may be true with lots of the meats you get. I think likely it doesn't hurt for it to sit out a while as long as it is refrigerated or put out in the cold weather fairly soon.

I sometimes strain the cooked pasta and stir in the cream cheese with herbs. (Leaving small amount of pasta water ) to make the sauce you could add other things if you like but it’s a quick tasty meal. Well done great haul

Flash has some good taste, those yummy hams, bacons etc. must smell delicious 😋 I personally LOVE all of these spreads😋 The Braunschweiger is an official term for a coarse liver pate sausage, here in Germany its license covers a coarse rare meat sausage with onions but as rare meat sausage is not allowed to be marketed in the US, I guess the closest type got the license. rubber mulch is often used in playgrounds so kids have a softer landing area off slides, jungle gyms, etc. And it's expensive, so thats a good save

Great dive, FD!!!! Good eye for checking out the bags. There was a bag in dumpster in the last video. I was yelling to open it & check it out but I guess you didn’t hear me. Lol. My theory on the nice bagged food is similar to many. I feel the evening stock person or clerk was given the cart of food to return to its proper place but didn’t get to do it. Rather than a reprimand, the worker bagged it up & tossed it in the dumpster to save his/her tousche.

What a well rounded score! For the spreadable garlic and herb cheese you can melt it in a pan over med low heat. Add just enough of the whipping cream to make a sauce. I add extra herbs or some spicy seasoning as well. Toss with pasta and veggies of your liking, and serve….easiest Alfredo sauce ever!

I have a shopping cart in my basement. My father in law found it years ago abandoned. It makes a good hamper for dirty laundry. We have a laundry chute and the cart sits right under it.

Most foods can be cooked and then refreezed for a few weeks. Not the best texture, but perfectly safe and good.

The abandoned shopping cart theory stands, but I'm scared. What if the abandoned cart was in the back room for a day, heaving and melting. Then what if the cleanup dude pushed the cart into the fridge the next day before pitching it? There's a reason they threw it all out. BocholisYUM!

It could have been just as you say. You often see the shopping carts with discarded items up near the cash registers at aldi. I guess they toss in the returns and things people decided against buying once they got up to pay. No telling how many hours that stuff sits there. So, you have to assess what you find. You can not make assumptions. But with something like a box of crackers, probably can assume it is fine. I guess we are decent at assessing because we never get sick or eat food that has gone off.

I think many times what happens is there are issues at check out with a card not working. Often food stamp cards haven't loaded for the month due to errors or a debit card is not work for various reasons. People plan to come back but the problem can't be fixed that day. The store then trashes it all. I think by law if food sat out after a certain length of time it has to be trashed. Another issue since the pandemic all stores now trash all returns because they have been touched by someone and into their homes. They use to repack after checking things out for damage and put back on shelf. Its a big waste and horrible for the landfill! It makes me mad things aren't donated more often

You can take those spreadable cheeses and put them on a chicken breast or a piece of chicken and add a little Panko breadcrumbs on top of that and bake them in the oven and they are absolutely wonderful! Enjoy

Frugal Mommy, I see some Stuffed Peppers being cooked up with that Rice and some Hamburger or ground Turkey. I put Spaghetti Sauce on top of it also. In a hot climate, it is much more challenging. You really have to be there very soon after the trash gets tossed. but when you find cold things in a hot dumpster, that's a good sign.
