Why are african countries obsessed with building massive roads and designing cities exclusively for cars? Our leaders lack a innovate mindset. Have we not learned anything from the disaster of North american city planning. We should be building public transport, light and heavy rail infrastructure. Thats how you reduce congestion and allow people/goods to move more efficiently, boosting economic growth! Also Ghana has a real issue of not building sidewalks and cycle lanes on roads making it impossible to function without a car.

Read on what other African countries are doing. This problem is almost exclusive to Ghana. Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, to name a few, are investing in light rail transportation infrastructure and BRT systems among others. Ghanaians are very conservative and extremely slow when it comes to embracing dynamism. We are a very stagnant bunch and this is manifested in the caliber of leaders we "elect" to guide us.

@@Artfulsketches-u8g As much as we'd like our "so called leaders" to facilitate/implement infrastructural development, the private/public sector has a major role to play in it as well. Ghanaians fail to realize that government is not the sole stakeholder in the county's development. Nana Addo, Nana Addo that.....This kind of naive, ignorant and juvenile mentality is setting us back, for real. We often get caught up with neglecting the pursuit of macro economic development and tragically equate real development to tangible , physical infrastructural projects. Whilst infrastructure plays a huge role in the medium to long-term, we should limit our use of it as an absolute yardstick for a government's performance.

Unfortunately your mentaility is reflective of a large proportion of Ghanaians who have 0 expectation and ambition for the country. This is what has been reflectes in the poor list of goverments who have done little to aid Ghana's development. At the end of the day, the political leaders in a country relfect the midnstate of a majority of its population thanks to democracy.
