It pains me to see such a noble car in this derelict condition. With proper care, it'd certainly be in a better shape than this, and no, I'm not talking about expensive care/maintenance products that might be lacking there. With just some basic respect for the car, this vehicle would look much better with 1 million kms, whether in Germany, or in Congo DR. You can tell just from seeing the overall state of the car, that many of the scratches, missing pieces, and other details such as the dirty interior reflect the mentality of the driver and its occupants. My own father bought a brand new Volvo 145 Estate in 1972, and 37 years later in 2009, at the time of selling, the car looked almost as it did when it rolled out of the dealership, and it also had reached nearly a million kms. It did have some obvious signs of having been used for many years, but my father always made sure it would receive as little damage as possible. And no, we weren't rich by any means, and it's been used for work and driven in rural environments for decades, but we still treated it with care and consideration, knowing how important of a work tool it was to us. This is not an environmental issue, it's a cultural one.

Big, big facts 😴 Whenever I see a car anywhere in this state, I think how the hell have they managed to neglect it they badly..
@novel8862 ай бұрын
It's a question of a lack of respect for this great car. In some parts of the world, this vehicle simply doesn't belong.
@Canleaf082 ай бұрын
It is about how Germans and other countries export cars with the wrong Umweltplakette to African countries. It also goes about e waste in Africa. European countries see African countries as waste disposal. Some drive these cars until they are broken and then sell them for export to Africa.
@ldgg38712 ай бұрын
@@Canleaf08 I can guarantee to you that the cars reaching African countries certainly are not falling apart at the moment of arrival. They might have obvious tear and wear from extensive use and high mileage but the European standards for maintenance are some of the highest in the world, which means an used car that no longer passes inspection is still very usable in many parts of the world, but the people shown in the video sure do everything within reach to ruin the overall integrity as quickly as possible. I've been working in the automotive industry for several years now, and I can tell you MB were engineered with the mentality of long-lasting service AS LONG AS their owners maintain the vehicles. They're constructed with the idea that a MB with basic care would have a longer life than most other brands with the same basic care, they weren't engineered to be mistreated and beaten by any means. Any engine and its mechanical components will end up breaking down with enough misuse, MBs are no exception. The people shown in this video simply lack the education to maintain their valuable work element, and the consequences are shown.

this car is in such a condition not because of the million kilometers, but because of the drive not taking care of it at all

This is my absolute dream car. When the W124s were current I couldn't afford one and now the cars are too old. In the 1990s, this Mercedes was the standard cab here in Germany and could be seen everywhere. Today, I turn around and look sadly after it when I see one from time to time.
@Maximum_7772 ай бұрын
I disagree with saying they're too old, their styling is timeless, and even high milage examples, albeit ones that were taken care of and aren't anything close to the one in this video, are still reliable, comfortable, and capable cars. Coming from modern cars, and buying a w124 with 184.5k miles, the driving experience has been a breath of fresh air, there's just no bs to these old cars, they just drive, I love it.
