2nd attempt. Oh yeah it was the first comment, too. ffs yt :-/ Comments are for the algorithm as much as to interact for my purposes. HRV is another data metric that can help determine lower HR vs power being improved fitness or just fatigued. Plappy mentioned RPE in his recent Cyrus Monk video - saying even if the power isn't quite there, if the RPE is, your training is still valuable. Something I had not considered, but definitely something i have experienced, esp with heat stress / fueling issues in the past. A valuable thing to think on, which this video reinforces. Feedback: I prefer your audio when you're stopped. The riding audio is not pleasant to listen to. The sudden zoom during the subscribe request made me feel nauseous. I am a data nerd^2 and have not really paid much attention to RPE in the past, but 2 videos back to back in relatively quick succession is changing that, appreciate the video.

A video on HRV is another thing in the back of my mind that will probably appear here at some point! And thanks for the feedback! Audio for sure is better when stopped, I've just tried to limit how much I'm stopping while training while still being able to film a video haha. But yeah may have to do it stopped for anything significant. I did get some stick on fluff/deadcats to cover the camera microphones which made a very positive impact when I tested it, but then when I went to make this video one of them fell off before the first thing I filmed!

Thanks for the great tips. Kinda hard to make out what you are saying when you are riding on the bike and talking.

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on incorporating gym work into a training schedule. Keep up the good work!
@BozzaClark10 күн бұрын
It really depends what your goals are and how your days and weeks are scheduled. For myself it works well as I tend to do most of my training (or at least harder training) early in the morning, then gym after work, but if you can only train once a day it gets tougher. For myself I like to put it on harder days, but after work, so 8h after the ride finishes, as then the easy days remain easy and don't get loaded up with gym, as then I end up sore and tired for the next hard session! Having said that, sometimes I'll just think of the gym as a hard session within a 'block' of training too.

Was building fitness well then got a bad cold. Had 5 days off so far. Should I start back with an hour of zone 2 to ease back in?
@BozzaClark9 күн бұрын
Yeah I'd recommend easing back into it for sure! Maybe even a few rides like that if the cold was bad, then introduce intensity steadily rather than just going back in full gas

Yes for sure

RPE is very good for a border. If the training is within the RPE target, then you can ignore it. But when it's way to easy or way to hard you have to adjust something. Question: Can I do these 1min on 1min off intervals on my zone 2 days and if yes, rather at the start, end or even middle? (They dont fit in my hard or medium days.) Video idea: I still dont understand how to choose the length of intervals. For vo2max it's clear: as long as possible. ;-) But for tempo, sweetspot and threshold: when should I do long intervals vs short intervals? For example: would 15x2min threshold intervals be stupid? Or is 20min sweetspot too long? Just because I can do it doesnt mean I should do it, right?
@BozzaClark9 күн бұрын
Yeah RPE is great to know if it's simply not happening that day or if it's way too easy (keeping in mind it doesn't always need to be hard!). The answer to the 2nd bit is it depends. I wouldn't put them on a "zone 2" day if the focus is simply zone two, but depending on the overall plan they certainly could fit. For example if you had a 4h ride for sure you could do a set or two of them either at the start or wait until the end (it depends on the goal/purpose), you'll only use like 15-20min of the ride time (including the recovery period) and get a little bit of high power work in. But it does add a bit of extra stress which you may or may not want. Thanks for the video idea, I'll have a think of how I could cover that!
