It's such a simple concept, but my friggin goodness is it a challenge to get it up and running. Our puny human brains aren't meant to do this.

So cool! I saw Garstka do this on “slayin on twitch” and very much peaked my interest. Thanks for breaking it down, I was having a hard time even slowing it down. You’re a wealth of knowledge and super talented man keep ‘em coming!

All of the true badasses can do this - I can't. Great explanation and lesson on getting started trying to get it down - this is great! Thanks for this

there is an exercise in one of gary chaffee's about those different hand foot conbinations in triplets and 16th. it's crucial to my independence

As a newbie I thought this was just my own inadequacies, it’s mighty reassuring that you, the experienced ones, have had this same issue. Feel better now 👏🇦🇺✌️

In marching bass drums we call these hand-to-hands, I've started calling them hand to feeds when applied to drum set. Such a hard rhythm to split whether it's between two people or your hands and feet.

It was 1 of my daily warm ups in the 90's and I had an advantage on most people playing in hardcore bands with that back and forth groove being common.

You can also use double paradiddle, paradiddle-diddle, and a bit more difficult, double stroke paradiddle..All combine with bass drum.

Great video man! I first saw the hand/foot splits from Thomas Pridgen in one of his Drumeo lessons. I swear just working on them for like 10 minutes a day, I've seen major improvements in almost all aspects of my drumming.

Wow... That actually brings out a double bass effect, especially with your right hand stroke on the floor tom... ...so simple in theory, yet requires much practice to smoothen it out... I found it very interesting...👍

That's a killer independence exercise. Noice! Is this little bit making it into a Vitamin Sun song? It'd be cool to hear the context as handled by the OTHER musicians since you seem to have it down pretty well.

I do some slightly slower splits as part of a groove in the song "Backwards Dog." I'll bust 'em out in a fill sometimes when we play live, too. I'm sure they'll work their way into other parts in the future...

Very nice. This is always a tricky one. I have students work on it with all subdivision pyramid up & down with quarter hi hats. What’s the white on your floor Tom?

That's a cut out ply from an old head. It helps lower the pitch of the floor tom and cuts some unwanted overtones, too.
