The terrain generation in your world is from Indev, which is incredibly early in Minecraft's history. It was before the full release, beta, alpha and even infinite worlds (which were added in infdev). The world was limited to 256x256 back then.

Ok I wrote this comment before but it disappeared into the aether for some reason If you use Golden Days and Nostalgia tweaks you can make it truly play and look like old Minecraft. Golden Days retextures all the new blocks from modern Minecraft to look like classic Minecraft, and Nostalgia Tweaks is highly customizable, allowing you to make it play like beta Minecraft with the old hunger system and lack of sprint I'm yet to see someone actually use these mods with a horror mod. Add PSX shaders in the mix and I think you'd have something really cool on your hands ^^

When you really think about it, the early stages of Minecraft had an eerie feel to them that I can only describe as a feeling similar to being in a liminal space. I remember being a kid and almost being terrified to play Minecraft while home alone because of just the music would be playing and this feeling of being watched would wash over me…doing horror in those early versions would be quite cool.
