Of course it will be expensive, you can't play World Of Warcraft, Gta V games like that on an office computer with fps 4 - 2 . I dont' know if this zotac can manage that target (at least not at the eye candy settings I prefer). I could see 1440/90 or 1440/75 for most titles though. 1440/90 is the sweet spot for me in terms of feel/responsiveness. I can tell a big difference between 60 and 90 but very little from 90 to 120.

as a person who has played counter strike, on 144hz, 300fps, i can cope the 30-40fps on 4k, im still happy to play in 30, 40, 60, 120, 300fps, gameplay experience is more important than anything

I mean, $1200 with no hdd/ssd and ram. The lowest total will be around $1280 with 8gb 2133hz(smaller dim) and 120gb ssd/500gb hdd. You're paying a premium for the compact and portable design. The idea is impressive but the outcome isn't. An i5 6400t paired with a gtx 1070 isn't too ideal. I love the low tdp of it but still, this is coming from the guy who owns an i3 6100/gtx 1070 desktop lol. And somehow I freakin' love it, just need a better cpu. You can always build a mini-itx build with i7 6700(maybe even K)/gtx 1070 for that price, it's not gonna be that portable and compact but it's gonna break the spines of rendering and gaming. TlDr: Needs a better cpu for rendering/modeling etc. But if you can afford it, it is an amazing pack'n go device. Best for LAN parties and traveling.

Every thing is also designed to be compatible and it is a balanced design to fit a specific market which has some value (Not as much as in the old days but hey that is actually a good thing). I need more graphics power then CPU if I am gaming so I would probably design to a low CPU spec if I wanted to save money for use in the GPU for example. Size if also important and designing a tight case like this and making sure that the thermals are in line with spec is not that easy. The last part of the design is profit. When you are designing a machine for your self your not thinking "I need to have a profit of $96 per machine...." where as if your looking for mass production you have to think about this since you want to be in business next year and for a long time after that and still pay employees, manufacturing staff and everyone else so you can continue creating new machines for the future and provide your shareholders with a return and dividends.

I mean, that's pretty cheap considering it has a quad core i7 and a GTX 1070. the 1070 costs upwards of $400 alone. You need to buy a storage drive and the ram, but it's still pretty cheap. If you were to build a desktop pc with similar specs, it wouldn't be more than $100 or $200 cheaper.

Yeah. I literaly rather build a medium tower i7, gtx 1070 myself, i can easily hide it behind my tv stand and use wireless keyboard/mouse. And in this case, you won't even be able to see the cpu and it will be slightly cheaper with a better processor. If the idea is not to have a bulky cpu next to your tv, you can just be creative and hide it, save money and probably have better results due to a better cooling.

The Reaper95 the larger an area you are viewing, the more likely you are able to see the pixels. Because one screen is larger, the comparison is flawed. You are better able to discern the image quality on the 40in screen than the 32in screen, if you had two 32in screens you likely would find it far more difficult to notice a difference at all.

The Reaper95 i have been tested and have 20/20, and if i look closely i could probably notice a small difference, but when you get to those higher resolutions the eye can only pick up so much. 1080p from 720p makes a way bigger difference then 1080 to 4k in terms of real world usability.

You didn't even mention that there is no CD drive to use the CD that comes with the packaging. A lot of people are moaning about the price. This is actually pretty close to what a DIY Intel quad core system would cost anyway. I just built one for my GF with an Intel Core i5-6500 ($170), CPU cooler ($45), 16GB RAM ($70), 650 watt gold SFX PSU ($120), mATX MOBO ($150), Crucial MX300 525GB SSD ($120), Windows 10 ($80) in a Thermaltake Core V21 mATX case ($60) with an Asus 27" IPS monitor ($200). That's $1,015 without a GPU, which I plan to add later when she discovers the awesomeness of PC gaming. Okay, without the 27" monitor, it's $815, but if you add that Nvidia GTX 1070, it's about right. The cheapest GTX 1070s are right at $400 right now, which would bring my GF's system to about $1,215 on its own or $1,415 with the monitor. So really, the price of this Zotac machine is on par with similar spec DIY systems. Personally, I like this thing, but I'd only buy one if it had a removable GPU design like some of the Sager and MSI laptops. It is a lot to pay for a platform with few upgrade options. And for those comparing these to the consoles, please stop. You're comparing apples to broccoli. The GTX 1070 in this Zotac machine is probably 10x more powerful than the AMD Jaguar APUs in either of the consoles. The PS4 Pro's claims of 4K gaming are NOT native resolution for most of the games. Sony's Head, Andrew House, freely admitted this. Austin's playing taxing titles like the Witcher 3 at FULL native 4K resolutions with medium to high settings. He's not upscaling. And, that's why it's so much more expensive. It's not meant to be a "console killer PC", this is a serious gaming mini PC.

Because I wanted the extra PCIe bandwidth of the Z170 chipset. Yeah, sure. You can buy a cheaper B150 "gaming" MOBO for like $89, but inevitably you sacrifice on features when you do that. I wanted a board with M.2 nVME support and USB 3.1 type-C onboard as well, so I paid a little extra. My girlfriend's never going to overclock the CPU, which is why I decided to save a few bucks on the i5-6500. It's more than enough for her needs.

The i5-6400T is a "desktop" CPU, but it is locked at 2.2GHz with turbo to 2.8 and a TDP of like 35 watts I think....so yeah, I would agree that it is more like a Hot Wheel versus something like an i5-6600K Mustang, which can fairly easily reach 4.5GHz with an overclock. It's still not an i7 6700K GTR or an i7 6950X Audi R8 though. Love that C10 thunder!! You're right though; that processor should bring the price down a little bit. CPU intensive titles probably suffer with such a slow chip inside.

I picked up one of these suckers about 2 months ago and have been using it as my main rig for a month now. It's a really slick machine. My former computer was a 2009 Mac Pro tower that I've upgraded a few times over the past 8 years. It was using 2 Xeon X5650's, a GTX 680, 22gb of 1333 mhz ECC RAM, 3tb SSHD for El Capitan, 2tb SSHD for Windows 7, and had a back up 4tb HDD for each. No OC just the factory speeds. Could of pushed it further and upgraded some parts but the combined energy cost between it and my game consoles was straining the power in my house already and pushing it further would mean more energy. So I decided to go in an entirely different direction and get something as powerful as I could that uses way less energy. So glad I decided on this machine. It's may be a little pricey, especially compared to building, and it may not be the most powerful machine out there, but it's more then powerful enough for me and the performance I get with it in games and normal computer tasks is stellar. I'm loving it.

Idunno. If you *REALLY* crave ultra small form factor, it might be your thing, but what Austin said at the beginning is true even with a mini ITX small form factor PC, like an RVZ02 case. You could achieve on par specs for ~$500 to $600 less than the barebones $1200. Anything more and you're beating it. To top it off, for the same price ($1200) you could definitely surpass the ZOTAC with a diy at only a somewhat larger form factor. Larger hard drive, more RAM, high-end motherboard, and quite notably, you'd be running desktop graphics cards. ZOTAC says GTX 980 or 1070, but those are laptop models and aren't the same performance wise as a "real" 980 or 1070. Hope this helps if someone is doing decision making.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like you've never seen 4K max settings on a 60+ inch screen. If you get a chance, check out a recent graphical standard like like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Doom or Battlefield 1 in such a setup. The difference in visual quality is colossal for me personally (provided that I'm wearing my glasses).

Simon Phung Not really, all I can say is that machines like this are perfect for emulation. I have a lower end Zotac with a 960 in it, and i use it for PS1 and PS2 emulation and other emulators. Works completely fine with it and fits perfectly with my setup between two speakers.

Ive been gaming in 4k for a few months now and honestly YES! It IS worth it IMHO. Star Wars Battlefront has been one of the most amazing looking but every game Ive thrown at it just looks amazing in 4K. A friend of mine whom I built his PC says mine ruins his gaming experience because its hard to go back to his 1080p system... But thats just me. Its pricey to get 4K still but if you can make it then dont hesitate.

I'll never figure out why manufacturers still ship driver cds. Most customers get the most up to date drivers from the webs and just chuck the cd. I would actually pay a $10 premium for them to ship those driver usb sticks, since I havent installed a dvd drive since 2008.

I don't consider something 4K capable unless it's able to run games at that resolution at the highest possible settings without dropping below 60 FPS. Highest settings and constant 60 FPS is more important to me than resolution.

I think a lot of the problems with these console killer PCs, at a similar size, is the price. People grab consoles partly because of the lower initial purchase price, you aren't going to convert anyone when the cost is four to five times higher than buying a console. Also as a PC gamer why would I chose a system with so little upgrade potential?
