Luke and Meredith were attracted to this 1890s Williamstown cottage for its facade, but the interior needed work. They collaborated with architect Cliff Chang and Sonelo Architects to transform it.
Their vision focused on light, minimalism, and material honesty to enhance their daily life. The extension retained the cottage's front, adding a bathroom and internal garden. A spiral staircase leads to their private retreat with a striking gable roof form that defines the upper level, offering serenity and shading.
The neutral material palette of concrete, white, and timber reflects simplicity and gave them that neutral backdrop that allows the owners to personalise and make it their home.
