All I do all day long is play comp. Every night I play ranked pro am tournaments for money. I play wagers all the time in the park. There’s a balance between wanting to play “comp” and wanting to have a balance in the game. Every game should not be game 7. Again if there was rewards for it, I’d completely change my perspective, but there’s no world where it’s logical to have it set it up like this. Gaming before 2020 was significantly more popular than it is now.

I think the best solution is simple Create a building called "Casual Courts" make 5 rooms (1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's) let that building have no SBMM and HEAVILY reduce rewards (REP, VC, EXP, ETC) that way no one can abuse the no SBMM to gain rewards faster due to easy matchups, you can have your for fun games here all you want. Then increase the rewards where SBMM exists by giving more REP, VC, EXP, ETC so progression in the game comes from COMPETING and not boosting against lower skilled people, rewards can be based on the skill level of the opponents you beat the higher the better.

I think you are actually the first person I've seen raise the point about VC and rep being equal for different ranks. You're spot on there, a simple change that i think would make everyone's experience more enjoyable - add a multiplier for rep/vc for higher ranked games. Could be based off of plate colour of the people you're vs easily, similar to mycareer does with difficulty. Then at least there's a reward to playing against sweats. Also agree that theatre and rec should just be non sbmm, I'm not even particularly good at the game, but when you get a W against some red plates and you weren't expecting it you feel like a boss. Also humbles you after beating teams of brown plates and teaches you new tricks from better players

I'm not sure if anyone else has this, but I don't have a full 5 for rec, so I run with a buddy, we'll play with other squads. Why tf are we facing teams running zones that are together and communicating. We have a split team, but we face full squads everytime. Additionally, we are both solid players, but yet we get rather bad teammates. The combo of those two checked me out of this game, park is kinda sweaty and my build doesn't work to well with it, and I'm not much of a park player tbh. Shits all outta wack.

Bit of a long post incoming; You do have some valid points. Objectively speaking though, it's better for it to be in the game rather than not. Could use some tweaks for sure (namely alleviating the matchmaking at high MVP ranking requirements so you can actually fill a lobby, or a separate gamemode that doesn't have SBMM but with reduced rewards to avoid "tryhards" abusing it, maybe incentivizing the ranked modes more but WITHOUT screwing over Rec, Theatre-onlys), but as someone who plays no squads Rec a good bit during some downtime the quality of the games this year is just so much fucking better than the other 2Ks. Not as much lobby leaving, fishing for better ranks, teammates get better as your ranking rises, etc. It's just a much better experience this year. Sure, there's still some frustrating games, but that's the risk you run playing solo and with people you don't know. I can tell you now, though, that I'd much rather have 100 competitive games down to the wire with players on my level than 50 games completely stomping the opponent then vice-versa the other 50 because the matchmaking is "balanced". Also, to address your point about COD... COD just simply has a different philosophy. Your terrible teammates have much less of an impact on how much fun you're having, whereas in 2K, one teammate can completely ruin your experience and be the difference between you winning or losing. You only have one basketball to share, whereas in COD, one teammate completely shitting the bed has (mostly) nothing to do with your overall KDA and the gun you shoot, which most players will have fun with in terms of their skill expression. Honestly, outside of the tweaks I suggested there's no real way of going about this. Any change will cause some arguing in the community. Knowing 2K they'll go about this the completely wrong way and fuck over one side too much making the game worse than it is now and dropping the playercount more. Something I want to mention though is that the idea of "casually" playing is overrated as hell. It's an online PVP game. People are going to try to win no matter what, regardless of what your definition of casual is. It's literally human nature. You wanna screw around, throw up some halfcourt shots? Go to MyCourt and invite some friends who will also have that in mind. No one's stopping you other than friend availability or yourself. You can still go to squads Theatre, Rec, or even Pro-Am 3V3 and fuck around. Sure, your opponents might be stomping you, but you're here to have fun and mess around, right? It's not like you're getting shot IRL for losing in 2K. I'm not saying everyone who wants less sweaty gameplay wants to curbstomp noobs all the time, but honestly, that's like the majority of people who complain about SBMM. You aren't slick, dawg. Too many of those guys just out themselves the moment they get the opportunity. I know damn well most of you just want to fuck up some unsuspecting REAL casuals because you got fucked up by someone who's theoretically on the same level as you. Don't even get me started on people making literal NEW builds and investing VC into the most optimal stats without using too much of their stash, that's just pathetic.

I personally think if casuals are going to talk shit about us good/comp players. Go ahead and complain, but you are just telling them to make the game harder for us. If we are going to have skill based matchmaking in every game mode, we should have rep multipliers in every game mod as well. It should be tied to your tier system. If I’m goat tier give me 2x rep for every game I play. So I can hear all the casuals cry about, “why are you making the game easier for the comp players.” You guys will also cry about anything.
