Good point Tez, people are getting more & more entitled and impatient on the roads lately. Some truck drivers also, not just cars. Instead of calling it a fast lane on a freeway, I’ve been calling it the entitled lane because most times when we need to merge to the left there is multiple people who choose to keep motoring past us in the entitled lane and cut us off suddenly to merge. This is very frustrating to see not to mention dangerous.

When driving a truck I've come to expect it from cars, and pre-empt a strategy of avoidance. What really is s#%t is the big ones overtaking over hills and just stupid spots. Not just the imported drivers either. There's often not even a crackle of static on UHF that might give you some warning of someone trying to bag up the tripple coming over red hill. We've all had the frustration of slower cars/ caravans and a need to get round them, but truck on truck....😤

Spot on Tez. I have noticed since 2020 and a certain medical intervention happened it seems to have affected peoples driving habits and I have noticed there seems to be more fatal accidents happening. I had a conversation with a Paramedic I know and this topic was brought up by him. After he finished talking I turned to him and told him I have noticed the same thing and I don’t feel so stupid for thinking that.

G'Day Tez, Did I just hear you say. "Please use common sense out there". The driving is much worse since covid. here in Danastan (Victoria, Home of the Pot Hole). Better to arrive a few minutes later than arrive dead. Be safe. Cheers.

Good one Tez. They blame the roads for the accidents BUT it is drivers behaviour, both cars and trucks. People please don’t be so impatient. Thanks for the video Old Mate

The "entitlement" is strong with some. The MGIF Club has grown exponentially over the last couple of years... (we all know what was going on then) Once set free, they've lost their marbles. Any sane person knows it's quicker to make & consume a cut lunch than overtake a road train. Sadly, the sane seem to be few & far between.

Dashcam makes me a lot more comfortable. I wont need to argue that it's not my fault in court WHEN something happens. People don't watch for dips ahead. They just see no cars and attempt a pass. They DON'T see the whole road, and check that they can see the whole road. They don't check for ENOUGH road visible to complete the pass. I think people are just getting worse at judging distance and velocity. Get your kids playing any ball sport, anything at all, it may save their life one day.

yup. Yup. In the beginning you keep your foot automaticly above the brake pedal, to intervene quick if that thing really go wrong. But after a certain time you grow out of it and automaticly you dont keep the foot above the brake anymore. Because it always ends well. But things can go wrong sometimes. Foot above the brake pedal or not. When things like that go wrong.......Its a hell of a mes. And media wil write that there's an accident with a truck.

For what its worth Tez, yes all day, every day, in every way. You try to do your very best for them, but there is a limit. As you know foreseeability gained through experience plays a huge role. Like you get to know the more likely places, times, & likely types of occurrences related to them, eg, the long hot straights where people fall asl eep, missed turnoffs with a pull off just past it where they will do a U turn right in front of you, the elderly lappers on meds, etc. etc.etc. & here's my best tip..... be especially vigilant in adverse conditions because its always the one you didn't or couldn't see that gets you. Adverse conditions multiply, often rapidly from normal to whatever. You can deal with the 1st as a matter of course, but do watch for & take notice of the 2nd one making its appearance, its the one that stresses you to avoid consequences because its always the 3rd that gets you, every time. BTW, the law requires a much higher standard from the pro, no matter if its a novice or a veteran, than it does from any other road user. Never forget that criminal negligence is always lurking. Its very hard to do, but always keep your cool, & do whatever it takes to remove yourself from having to travel along in company with the clearly unsafe asap. WA.
