I was an O D until 2009 , nightmares of little wheels , putting my 25 and 26 metre B Doubles to the test I witnessed several fatal , the last one was caused by a rigid sideswiping a loaded log truck ; the driver of the log truck was incinerated and the driver of the offending rigid survived only to die in hospital a few days later . My message , if your tired , stop and rest , "Life is Too Precious to waste"!

some absolutely amazing skills of those drivers to keep it all upright. Some years ago while driving to our local shopping center, my wife & I witnessed a truck roll over due to the truck losing his brakes (no maxi brakes so when his air went he kept going). He was loaded with about 20 ton of dirt in a 70km zone with a slight downgrade approaching a red light with several stopped cars. He made the decision to attempt a 90 degree left turn to avoid smashing into the stopped traffic. He made it but hit the traffic island causing the whole tractor & trailer to roll over only 80 yards in front of us. He saved lives that day.

I thought most semis have S-cam air brakes, they have an override spring that locks the brakes if there's a problem. Sorry but I can't understand how that accident could've happened.
@michaelhyde-parker63443 жыл бұрын
@@andrewking4885 this was about 20 years ago & the truck was a number of years old by that time so maybe didn't have that particular setup. On modern air brakes the brake chambers have 2 parts. one actuates using air when the pedal is depressed, the 2nd is the emergency side that locks everything up if the air goes. I used to fit these later brake units as upgrades when I was an apprentice in the early 90s but a lot of trucks didn't have them as standard.

Forgot about this one. Can we all appreciate how well ol' mates cargo was secured. Not one car fell off the truck.

Car drivers always cut in front of my truck. And if I had of hit one, all the other car drivers would assume it was me in my truck at fault, I’ve had horses get injured because of it. (I do horse transport) and it sux that these expensive horse suffered because of uneducated, selfish drivers plus the medical bills the owner has to spend.

Great vid Tez. We Aussie truck drivers have to deal with some crazy things, but both of the drivers in this vid saved many lives with their awareness. I’m glad we still have skilled drivers roaming around our country

I only drive a 10 pallet rigid in Sydney. The amount of fuckwits I deal with is bad enough I can't imagine how bigger truckers deal with it
@huskypilot63053 жыл бұрын
@@XaviRonaldo0 we all play a part in the big game of transport mate. If you can do multi drop in Sydney, you must have some awareness of your surroundings. Upgrade your license when you can, then you will make better money. I started with rigids in Brisbane, now doing linehaul for $480 a night

Yep, saw that one at Dalby. I think it should be made a rule that ALL dark and any coloured cars have thier lights on at all times. The trouble is, a lot of people just mozzy along when passing semi's. Ya gotta floor it and get round em asap. 🙂 🚗💨
@XaviRonaldo03 жыл бұрын
The most stupid thing is that car apparently sat behind past multiple overtaking lanes. Why pass up the opportunity for safe overtake to just do something like that? The worst thing is the truckie was probably on the hook for all the damage to his rig.

They saved a lot of lives, I bet the last one, the ppl he saved just kept driving, truck probably had 10k plus damage. I used to do horse transport and when you got 30 million dollar racehorse stallions on board, my main concern is the horses, I’ll do what I can to prevent idiots losing their lives, but if you drive dangerously around trucks you will lose and my horses will be alright mostly.

It might be just me but most of the accidents where the truck seems to be at fault are mostly tippers is it a mind set or are the rates that low that it promotes some very very rash decisions
@joebloggs8302 жыл бұрын
Driving tippers if you're too heavy on the steering the loads shifts and then pulls the truck over.
