@@hamidibrahim4336 because by doing so your dry signal is only actually dry for the first effect in the chain. Say you have 5 effects, your 5th and last one is likely not to have headroom to work properly if your first 4 effects raised the volume of a couple DB each. Also, actual DBs and perceived volume are definitely not the same thing, so make sure you use the "output" knob on every effect you use to keep the same in/out DBs.

IN A NUTSHELL: Make sure all your instruments from the start are somewhere close to -18 DB in volume from the instrument panel's volume knob itself. You shouldn't have to see the faders on your mixer turned down a lot. Most plugins work best when the input of the signal if around -18 to -10 DB anyway.

To break it down, route everything to your mixer and adjust the gain knob so they are all hitting around the same db. Around -9 to -12 db. Then mix by utilizing your faders in the mixer. The further down the fader goes, the more db it will decrease by...so its more precise to have your faders zero'd out to work from there. Another important reason is some VST's don't like/react/work well with hot signals.

Hi, thanks for the tips, anyway is it possible to have a video where you talk about setting the limiter right in order to get the desired loudness? There's a new standard for measuring it, I don't remember the name now, it must be something like lufs. I've heard that the final level must be kept at - 1db from the ceiling to avoid clipping when converting to mp3, or another sampling frequency (like from 44.1khz to 48khz). Also, seems that KZbin, Spotify and all the digital distributors have their lufs value to be used.. Thank you

@M P what do you mean by this? I thought the result of the above comments would be be -18db digital = 0 dbfs analog?

@M P that's not really correct. Actually -18db rms = 0 db vu

Cuz if u do it before it mayb makes it mess up once u adjust the sound level

Before to cut out all the unnecessary freq under 120hz like the subs from each sound if it isnt a bass like an 808. And after also to get what you want out of the sound. But always go back and adjust.

I always turn everything down and bring up faders based on which sets the mood and carries the most, also being the loudest element. No more than -6db, then bring up the other elements accordingly based on it's mood keeping it all under -6db to leave headroom

✓Set everything initially at -12db tweaking the source volume knobs ✓Fader tweaking process after putting the master fader to the fullest for headroom: Kick: -6 db Sub bass/bass: -15 db ish Hi hats: - 15 db ish Claps: -12 db Rim/percs: -15 db ish 808: -12 db ish (a little less) Melody: -15 db ish Counter melody: -18 db ish Counter melody 2: -21 db ish Pluckings: -15 db ish ✓Then, reset master fader to initials and add ozone 5 (maximizer) or any maximizer and increase the volume to perfection.

when you’re making the beat do you reset all the levels to gain stage? because i somewhat mix while i’m making the beat
@pr0perproductions6844 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, every time you add a sound, you create its pattern and then gain stage said pattern. From there, once you add another sound and pattern, you gain stage again. And then can mix the new sound. If this is done properly, you can gain stage and mix throughout making the beat! :)

Do you EQ right after gain staging then set the relative levels of each sound, or do the levelling first then EQ?
