Hey Evan. I absolutely love the content you produce! You are an amazing photographer! Me and my family are going to be taking a trip to the Smokies next month, and I was wondering if there are any specific spots you would recommend to photograph bears? I've been photographing wildlife for about two years now, but just recently upgraded from my $300 setup, to the Canon 90D and Sigma 150-600mm lens, so I'm really excited to be photographing wildlife on this trip. Any tips you could give me would be very appreciated.

I just returned home from a Black Bear Smoky's trip from 4/25-4/29. I had plenty of sightings, but understand that seeing them does not equate to photo opps. My sole purpose was Black Bears so I spent most of my time at Cades Cove with a couple of excursions to Roaring Fork Road. I was pleased with the images I was able to garner. I do love your intimate portrait of mama and cub. I enjoyed this video immensely because I was just there and could relate. Safe travels to you on your way to Wyoming.

Glad you enjoyed the video! That’s awesome, hope you were able to get some good photos. The Smokies are hard to beat when it comes to black bear photography. I know of no better place for it. Thanks for watching!

Great video. However, the video states that you bought a 500mm lens, but in your description, I only seen a 100-400mm lens listed. The reason I mention this is because I was interested in viewing the specs for your 500mm lens. So, I was a bit disappointed when I could not find this item.
@wattswildlifephoto Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m sorry that wasn’t included, I must’ve forgot to add it when I put this video up. Here’s a link to the 500mm lens: amzn.to/3ECP04S Hope that helps 👍

Great vlog, I would highly recommend the battery grip. Gets me 3000-4000 shots easily now with 30-40 percent left over.
@wattswildlifephoto2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I’ve been wanting to get it for a while but man, $350 is just a lot to ask for it. I’ll get it eventually though.
@sswildlifevideos2 жыл бұрын
@@wattswildlifephoto Totally agree mate. This is an expensive hobby but the 250 dollars for the delkin devices black cfexpress and 350 for the grip have both been huge for me!

Solid video! When would you, or anyone reading this, recommend for the best time of year to see wildlife? We’ve been there a few times, and we’ve seen a bear/deer by coincidence, but I’d like to know if they’re normally this plentiful in the spring
@wattswildlifephoto2 жыл бұрын
April through October is the best time imo. Bears and deer are all over the place and the elk can be seen with calves in the spring and then rutting in the fall.

I cannot find any used, long canon EF lenses (500mm/600mm). There are a few but they have gone up in price since the last time I looked.
@wattswildlifephoto2 жыл бұрын
They are few and far between, I looked for months before I found and pulled the trigger on this one. MPB had a good selection back while I was looking, but that was almost 2 months ago so they may not now. Good luck!
