I just happened to see this in my KZbin feed right before heading out to the range and to play 18. Tried it out and was blown away; I've watched a lot of golf videos and never saw this explained so clearly. I'm 66 and suddenly was hitting shots like I did 20 years ago. Fantastic!

This is gold, thank you. I cannot move exactly like that, but I suspect adding even a small amount of this in my swing would solve a lot of my issues. My right shoulder tends to move out and lunge onto the ball too early, causing a flat shoulder plane and a STEEP downswing. Will try this out tomorrow! Thank you!

Craig your the best, you've taught me a long time ago, thank god,, about shoulder plane, amazingly how it made my ball striking pure, it's just an easy thought and feel for me, I feel Iike my trail shoulder/ arm is down hitting the ball, I love that wall drill, the first time I tryed that I couldn't believe how much I was off with side bends and tilts, this whole video is all great feels for me, definitely going to give those drills ago, my feels and reals are so off, when I watch my swing I'm blown away on what I'm actually doing. mind blowing.

Fred Couple's maintains his hip tilt plane right until is follow through (FC's trail foot is banked over longer) and FC side bend is more from the mid-spine. Thanks again for this video.!

Good out of the box thinking. You should put that into production and sell it as a genuine training aid as the movement of the head is an overlooked part of the swing and there isnt much ive seen in the way of a training aid to help this. I'll just take 15% commision for the idea lol. It is GREAT downswing but if you have anterior-right knee issues be very careful not to use that right knee to initiate this move. Instead let your hips lead this action an let the right leg just come along for the ride. I love golf and miss my strong right knee action because it make this move possible. I have since modified this move by concentrating on clearing my hip as part of this fabulous down swing that Craig illustrates here. All I then add is a little more active right arm and hand to apply the hit. I'm almost back to my old distances and with a ProV1 golf ball I can make up the distance I get at the range.

Nice one Craig. And a oncourse Feel I have been using to achieve this is setting a high window/trajectory to hit through while you move laterally through the ball - with a straight to fade like feel) I like to channel Nicklaus, Watson and or the Elk! (Weight more towards heels helps me as well.) 2. Put yourself behind a tree with any iron that can just get over if struck well. If you are coordinated your body will create the swing that is required to achieve the desired ball flight. 🏌️‍♂️🔥

Do you want to keep the left shoulder blade down and protracted while you get it high?..and what do you think the key is for the head not to go backwards when you shift? Same even with the right.. Down and retracted?

Try just moving your lower body...my thought is laterally while keeping your head still...before you start down. The key for me is move your lower body first and let the club fall from the top...with gravity. You can always collect it at the bottom. Your arms will always be quicker than your lower body. I just try to feel my arms falling from the top without any effort.

The ‘lift’ part has always thrown me a bit; with the fact that the head may move forward it may interfere with the idea of a proper hip turn? Probably because I’m older, so lifting the lead shoulder means everything moves up; dropping the trail seems better? For me, I work on keeping my trail knee inside the line as the trail hip turns; which means the lead hip should feel like it’s dropping back and almost down. The drill I’m thinking of is like sitting/pushing back in an office chair with the lead leg. It seems important that the lead leg doesn’t fully straighten until in the follow through and end of turn; but here the golfer is turned, tilted and extended at impact. Sigh. More pieces to work on.

That’s why i do online swing analysis training. Im currently working with hundreds and hundreds of golfers from all around the world. Improving all of them. You shouldnt look for written guessing tips in the comments area. Who knows what your swing looks like or what the point of failure is. I have no idea how you swing. You need to stop guessing. Hi Graig, i just found your channel, interesting point of view, i see what your saying but!! is some of this movement because of the camera Angle not being down the line . as the feet in these videos look not square, i also like a well respected you tube channel that users Gears to analyse many top pros and this is not what happens . and looking at this footage its looks like the camera is not square to the body line, i,m not a Knocker it just looks that way. unless all these players set up with the right foot back a couple of inches.

Hi Graig, thanks for getting back to me and clearing that up, down the line Xander Schauffele camera view is great and i can see this happening and john Rahn the same , Ben hogan camera view his stance looks open giving me that opinion, i understand the head is stable in the swing but not still, i will subscribe and may contact with question moving forward , love the two club drills in this video cheers

Questions... All the players that you have referenced in your video, have you met them or have you spoken to them? If you have met or spoken to them what have they said as to why they swing the club like that. If you have not met or spoken to them, why do you believe the reason is that they swing the club like that. I would like to know if it is a case of being more accurate, having more distance or is it just less wear and tear on the body? It's all good trying to replicate someone but there needs to be a reason why. I'm glad you made this video but I need to know if it's just your analysis or this is based on their word?
@CraigHansonGolf
@CraigHansonGolf 4 ай бұрын
I don’t think you understood the video. I mentioned why they swing that way. The video goes for 13 minutes Writing it out would take 3 hours.. I would watch it again and listen to why they swing like that.. listen

@@CraigHansonGolf So you spoke to all the players you mentioned and they all told you why they swing like that ? I'm not trying to be a smartarse or belittle you in anyway. Just trying to understand if what you're telling us is just just your analysis or it's based on what they told you. If it's just your analysis then I guess it would mean less because you wouldn't know why they swing that way.

@@TheVegemiteGuy5941 So your opinion is that although many players and ball strikers swing this way, and have been coached that way (it isn’t exactly a mystery technique), and that although everyone says it creates more power and compression because the swing uses the whole body to move through the ball (it’s commonly known why, and is well explained in the video); that if Craig hasn’t personally had all of the players tell him why they each swing this common way, then it isn’t as useful? You ‘need’ to know if it’s based on their word? You win idiot of the week. Congratulations.

@@rickroll9086 Well forgive me for wanting some clarification on a technique. Just because someone analyses something doesn't make it right. I'll tell you one thing though resorting to name called definitely shows a lack of intellect and debating skills. I guess you won that one.Have a nice day.

If you do the opposite of what Craig says (using your upper body/turning level in the downswing (approximately 6:14 in the the video), eventually you will injure your lower spine. I’d like to strangle the pro who taught me the opposite of what Craig says, because I wound up having my spine fused.

Or movement towards the ball.. Early extending doesn’t mean movement towards the ball? .. It means you extended to early. All the players i showed had their heads where moving down and out towards the ball. That’s not early extending. I mean we have to get that right …
@cpond007
@cpond007 4 ай бұрын
@CraigHansonGolf I agree with you, early extension has many components. I sent a 😉 wink and " " many instructors are completely against the "tush" line moving towards the ball, which is part of the "early extension" discussion. I have photos of Jack Nicklaus in his mid to later 50's moving his backside towards the ball. Great channel!!

I like Craig a lot. Disappointed to see the connection with Performance Golf though. They are just trying to monetize every aspect of the swing. Buy this 6 episode series on Lag, or putting, or flush contact etc etc. can't blame a guy for trying to make a living I guess. But most people need to hold on to their wallet.

There isn’t a swing out there for crap golfers.. The closer you get to great technique the Betty play the further away you are the worst you play I mentioned in the video that I don’t expect Club players and players to get to these positions where the pros are obviously you didn’t listen to that part .. that’s the thing about these comments you have complete fools watching 10 seconds of the video leaving comments … go and watch videos for high handicappers or beginners.. ..
