As someone who runs a half marathon joyfully in 2:20, I am always surprised when people say they didn't know if they could finish it and then finish it in 1:24 hahaha. Great race guys. One disclaimer guys: it somehow sounds like the marathon was bad because of the way it was organized. Maybe you should clarify that. Love your videos. Hope to see you running in India soon. See if you can run the Highest Marathon in the world in Ladakh, India.

I've run night marathons in Malaysia and Singapore and recognise what you went through there -was getting serious deja vu of the brutality of humidity ! Really well captured ! Well done Mary and Ben. I've run a few half marathons in conditions a bit like that. I lived in the Midwest of the US for a while and there were a few ugly races where I had to wring out my shorts afterwards. I'll be honest, I sort of shy away from races where the potential for high heat is an issue. I've done my fair share of them and I really don't like to put myself through it. Super impressed with Mary's time. Enjoyed the video!

I remember running the Brooklyn Half last year in NYC, and it happened to be the first hot day of the year (reaching as high as 88F/31C and extremely high humidity). The entire race felt like running through a wall of heat, and I couldn't drink enough fluids to offset how much I sweat out. Definitely tests your body and mental fortitude. Unfortunately, someone passed during it - so please be careful whoever ends up running in these kinds of conditions.

Brutal! I did a training run here in Midwest US last summer in 37+ (Celsius) temps. Felt slightly drunk/hungover for 3 days; made me rethink my running journey😂. From what I’ve heard and read, some bodies just can’t handle the heat as well as others; especially with humidity; that just makes it a whole different world from dry heat. Hope you guys recover well! Maybe you guys could move to a higher altitude? Assuming that would be cooler. You’d still get additional training benefit.

i'm sure i'm preaching to the converted but in these conditions (and even much kinder ones) make sure you have some salt with your hydration. major cause of sudden cardiac death during these events is low sodium due to sweating and rehydrating with just water.
