This nearly was mine sung by Anthony Warlow. And a little bit about Les Miz CSR, his first album, and the Phantom.

He is so handsome, with or without hair. Why isn't he the world's best-known singer?

This brings out his baritone, which is impressive, because you also hear him as a solid tenor the way he sings in many musical roles. Great talent! I read he has sung a fair bit of opera as well (my favorite vocal genre) but I'm sad to say I can't find any Warlow opera recordings.

Love, love, love him forever. But did you know you can't buy his songs in iTunes? Any reason for that? Maybe, Warlow does not like this way of selling music! I have his latest CD, Face the Music... so great!

he seemed so insecure back then now he's a larger than life persona with a fantastic comic gene

He started his career as a principal artist with Opera Australia, but he hasn't recorded much opera, just a few Gilbert & Sullivan operas and an English version of Die Fledermaus, which are all videos released by Opera Australia.

I am thinking it may have been '89. Centre Stage was recorded in '90, the same year he took on the role of Phantom and this seems to indicate he was still in Les Mis which from memory he didn't finish with until '89.

He did operas in the original languages for sure, but he didn't record them.

saw one from HMS Pinafore with Warlow on youtube. I always saw their works as more operetta than opera. I read somewhere Warlow's performed in La Boheme, Don Giovani, Tosca, and others. Sang Fledermaus but in english eh? I wonder if his opera performances were always in english translation for whatever opera house in Australia he started in.

Maybe learning other languages or phonetically memorizing lyrics was deemed too much trouble? hmmm I wonder. I've often felt musicals are less vocally challenging than operas (perhaps thems fightin words though, lol), yet Warlow stuck to them... though truly I think he'd make a fine dramatic tenor, which the opera world definitely could use more these days. sorry read these two comments bottom up for them to be in order

A most pleasant voice to hear. However, this is not a love song!

He sounds glorious. The orchestra sounds pretty bad. The strings are so flat.

Yes, that stood out to me as well - the orchestral arrangement - all over the place.!
