The worst thing about the original arcade Haunted Castle is that it doesn't allow unlimited continues without any way to get around that. You are limited to the setting in the arcade which when maxed out only gives you 5 lives per game and 3 continues. It is still super hard with the easiest settings. There's only 2 ways to get through it: Get Good or use save states which didn't exists or work correctly for this game in MAME when I tried to play it years ago.

Haunted Castle for a long time went from the ugly duckling into the swan and grace it fully deserves now. But 1987 to 2024 for a top line tier conversion is a long long time but damn it's done right though.

They need to release the Castlevania Chronicles from PS1. Maybe next Castlevania collection for the 3d games will have it.

I’ve been working on these. I finished Haunted Castle on EZ mode. Finished the Haunted Castle remake Finished Dawn of Sorrow At the end of Portrait of Ruin

this game is what games are supposed to be, fun and easy, as u said, finished in 1 sitting and i liked that, mainly for the continues and the fact it is a simple game. I admit, i loved it more than i loved most newer games of the series and i think it is the best part of the collection. All those other games are time sinkers and grinders, this is what i want, an honest to goodness good time and i think buying the collection is worth it just to enjoy this beautiful game.

Haunted Castle Revisited looks, sounds, and especially controls a lot like Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth for the Wii. I wonder if the same team worked on this game.

My biggest insight from this video, is that Castlevania was good when it had stages. When they turn these games into massive labyrinths, it lost a lot if not all appeal. And bring back the swinging mechanic’s already. Great video

Here me out: 1. We got haunted castle as bonus in konami arcade collection. 2. The bonus game should be castlevania judgement for wii as it connects to one of the ds games. 3. Haunted Castle remastered should be called Haunted Castle Rebirth and put with the 3 other Konami Rebirth wiiware games in its own collection.

Castlevania Judgement is more like a spinoff/what if story than a direct connection or canon to DS games.
