You should use feint and Flank tactics. Basically you send a distraction ary Force, but then you bring a strong force to attack from the sides and possibly encircle your enemies

If this strategy game has a multiplayer function I'd so be willing to learn it. I've been scouring the depths of the internet to find a decent RTS to play... (Also I found a pretty sick RTS called company of heroes 2 which is similar to this game but more micro-intensive and historical)

You're not expected to clear the entire map during a phase. Just focus on whatever the objective is at the top left as a rule of thumb. Like, at the start of this video, you're doing the first mission of the first Operation, you're not even tasked to cap any of the map if you don't want to. You only have to reinforce LAUTERBACH east and west until the phase is over.
