This game absolutely screams Hearthstone design influence. Casts when Drawn, an effect that's 1-to-1 for discover, the wordage (like exactly formatting as "Played: xyz", or using parenthesis in the card for showing number of times something triggers) and so on. Not to say that's inherently a bad thing ofcourse, just something I picked up on! I don't mind it, makes it easier to pick up as someone who plays HS casually already. :) Edit: Oh, also wanted to mention some cards are also almost direct 1-to-1's but forgot to say it first time around. Lightshow is kinda that, its also pretty different in some ways. The big one I saw was Ship Cannon. Which is quite literally the same effect as the ship cannon from HS.

I was also thinking its very Legends of Runeterra inspired. A lot of the abilities on units are 1 for 1 with LoR keywords.

The look and feel of this game is awesome! Would love to see more of it in the future! Some advice, feel free to ignore lol. If you’re following the same thought process as other deck builders, it’s much better value to evolve higher cost cards over low ones. Especially ones whose value comes on a card play effect. Like 35:50 evolving Funky Kong (played: give pirates +1/1) would get you a random 7 cost, but you used it on a 2 cost with a +1/1 buff. Going from a 2/4 to a 1/2.

To do that tbf u must know drops for the cost. If there are many good targets to evolve from 2 to 3 and many bad from 6 to 7 then you should pick 2 -> 3

ive seen some comments mention the similarity to heartstone but it also has quite a resemblence in design to Runeterra with the puff caps and general vibe but i like this game(also flying == evasive in runeterra), it seems cool i just dont appreciate some 1 to 1 exact copies. The rune system is interesting , its not necessarily an original game but its cool and has a similar system tahn slay the spire which I LOVE so yeah :)

Checked this out a couple weeks back - definitely very, very promising, but when I took a look at it, the game was very much still in the earliest stages of early access. Visual glitches all over the place, a couple crashes, lots and lots of bugs and softlocks. I'm sure it'll eventually be great, but personally I thought it wasn't ready for market just yet.

Honestly, I love that the thinning related loss was the downfall. Not cause of you or anything, just to show how entrenched the idea of "must have thin deck" has become in those roguelite card games.

That isn't a card roguelite thing. That's just a general card game thing. You generally do not want a deck that is bigger than you need it to be. This helps keep the deck more consistent and less reliant on luck. This is also why draw effects are typically handled carefully, and running out of cards being a loss condition in some of these games is specifically to create risk for leaning too hard into thin + draw effects.

i hate when cards game do the "oh, youre in a bad spot, so instead of letting you pull things back around and barely survive with a skillfull play, you just outright lose now instead" thing, if the player's deck is empty they should be given the option to carefully eek out a tiny victory instead of being further punished

That's a punishment for drawing so much cards. You're getting an advantage, that lets you play more cards than your opponent in late game. But you have to keep up with this pace
