Happy New Year Randy. My fish catching has improved so much last year due to your videos. I’m looking forward to 2025. We had one high school team take 11th place at Cumberland. Thank you for all that you do for us who love to fish bass.

That looks killer. Thanks! Would you still use a loop knot?
@comfortablynumb934218 күн бұрын
Flats Class TV has a recent video about loop knots. I used them a lot for years but now I'm not going to use them as much. He's a saltwater guy but the reasons he has are the same for any fish.

Try using heavy cover hooks ,the weight helps the fluke stay upright,also add a few split shot near bend of hook to get same action,been doing this since i stop using the sluggo.

Been fishing the hover rig since last spring! I’m not ffs fishing. In summer started putting them in a tube, been great.

Hey Randy I wish you and your family a happy New Year! Nice rigging technique. Cool. But it doesn't change everything because I still gotta pay the rent 😂. I like the Hover Rigs and I plan to try them more this year as soon as the weather gets better and the flounder come back. I wish there was a 1/4 oz version. The TUSH hooks are pretty awesome too and they do come in heavier weights and bigger hooks.

I will try this, but, it sure looks a lot like the fin-s fish and darter head combo that we've been using in Michigan for post-spawn bass and Saginaw Bay walleye for more than 40 years.

I had great results using the hover rig with a fluke last year.

Caught my first fish yesterday on the hover rig, I like using elaztec baits best as I seem to tear up some regular plastics ones before I get it rigged perfectly

I like the wing zoom fluke instead of the Sakamoto shed cheaper and easier to get works great for forward facing sonar as want a lot of money 4 inch and 5 inch thank you

This bait with this rig works So Well , it fishes like a jerkbait and it allows the bait not to nose dive it holds it straight kind of level sinking slowly , it works so well on a rock bank it won’t nose dive and get snagged like a ball head would do , this really works , and it helps keep the fluke from blowing out to the surface , the way it’s weighted makes fish bite , I even catch speckle trout here on it , along with Bass

Hey buddy just want to say I’m a huge fan and love the informative content you produce thanks so much for all you do and if I can ask a question please just purchased a Loomis Imx pro spin rod 6’9” jerkbait 812jbr and I’m a little skunked as far as what spin reel to go with any porters or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!!!

I would look at the Lews Hypermag reel...I know Randy likes them and recommended that one for jerk baiting. I have it and its real nice and on sale on Tackle Warehouse...$36 off

What power and action spinning rod are you throwing this on? MF or MHF?
@astrophysicistguy17 күн бұрын
I've had a hover rig/fluke on a dedicated rod ever since they came out. Lost track of the number of bass I've caught on it ...

Nah. Not into the toxic Lead, especially the uncoated stuff. Make sure you wash your hands after handling. I’ll stick with strolling the jig/minnow, especially this time of year, though I will use tungsten nails for hover rigs when the water warms. I use tunsten jig heads and nails only. For my light stuff, I use the largest slotted tungsten beads anvailable (Spawn Super Beads) and Gamakatsu Big River jig hooks. These jig hooks have a compact barb that will take the larger slotted tungsten beads. Pick the size hook you need and the size bead you want for the minnow head and conditions and assemble as needed instead of wasting money on premade combinations of weights and hook sizes. Using smaller fluke baits with this setup is a pond fisherman’s dream.
