I do like the new logo, the previous logo was just WISE in aerial font (lol) which was the only real complain I had with WISE watches. They still refuse to put the logo on the dials.

I rather like it. 904L is used by many brands; Ball, Milus, and Steinhart are three that spring to mind 😉. And now Wise too! The big brands should get on it! 😂. The reason for the extra shine is it has twice the nickel content (so if you have a nickel intolerance, take note) of about 25%, compared to 316L. 904L is slightly softer (Rockwell HR-B of 80 +/-) than 316L (Rockwell HR-B 95+/-), but much more corrosion-resistant for acids, although in horological applications this is utterly unimportant unless you want to go diving in sulphuric acid…

I always thought 904L was more resistant to salt water corrosion and also stronger than 316L?

@@anandmorris 904L is indeed more resistant to chlorides, particularly warm salt water, although whether noticeably so in a swimming environment is another matter. For tensile strength this is as much dependent on how the SS is worked and treated. 904L cannot be hardened by thermal treatment. The details of this is not my area.

904L steel is more corrosion-resistant - useful for a dive watch. More of a practical reason to use it than "it's shinier".

Yes but the corrosion resistance is fairly negligible for all but the most hardcore divers. To the 99.9% of us the difference is simply that it is shinier

Yes, 904L is a classed as a 'super austenitic' stainless steel. 316L is pretty much bargain basement for ASS; it's used everywhere. 904L certainly is 'marine grade', as watch makers like to say but I would not classify 316L the same way.

You need to check out their Adamascus line (specifically the AD7). They're beautiful dress/sports hybrid watches, with crazy specs and finishing for around $550 USD after their discounts. They use 9L4 stainless steel for the Adamascus as well.

Considering I bought my Bulova Oceanographer, 2nd hand, 6 months old for £420 and this is the same movement. Also Bulova reduced the prices a lot. The previous owner bought the watch for 850 Euros in Spain from a retailer - I have the whole paperwork. So. I would argue that's a deal

A beautiful watch and very well priced! I love Wise watches, they have their own design language. I already got my (only) bronze case watch from them and it is beautiful. Their watches have great attention to detail which even extends to their watch boxes. I am thinking about getting another watch from them, maybe not the GMT, but they have some very nice dress watches in 904L or damascus steel.

This costs more than I want to spend on another GMT, but it is impressive and I’m interested to see what will be coming out of Thailand going forward. 904l polishes up more luxuriously and has more chromium, so it's better in water. 316l is tougher. Imo either steel is perfectly OK.

It's sad that watches that look good cost over 1k+. amzwatch watches are REALLY well made, and it just shows how a brand name on a watch can make its price 10x higher. I understand that if you look under a microscope, you'll find the difference, but just how many of you really inspect a watch at that level when you see someone with a watch?

@@scott9739 seems you are conflating watch movement regulation with movement accuracy certification. Watch regulation, in terms of accuracy, means to tune the watch balance spring to the desired oscillation frequency. For a watch movement to get certified to a standard (e.g., COSC), (1) the movement must be able to keep time up to that specific standard, and (2) the must be sent in for certification. The specified standard determines the precision (+ - range) and accuracy (average deviation). Two totally different things. A watch can be accurate beyond the COSC standard and not be COSC certified simply because it is not sent for certification in Switzerland. The movement used in the ADX has manufacturing tolerances that cannot guarantee it will meet COSC requirements, even when well regulated. So no, the average buyer cannot expect COSC-like accuracy. Some might get lucky, tho. Anyway the Wise ADX is a watch assembled in Thailand using a Japanese made movement, it makes no economical sense to ship it to Swiss certification anyway. This is why you only see watches with Swiss movement having Swiss certification. But the watch is well regulated.

​@@BobbyL2k I never mentioned Swiss or COSC. Nodus self regulates to +/- 7 seconds, Jack Mason to +/- 5 seconds. I was just wondering if Wise did the same. I'll take it as a no since a simple answer would have proven otherwise and there is a need for hyperbole instead.

I remember during their technical q&a they said that for their Hitman watches (NH movement) they usually get sub + - 10 spd and that they will throw away any movement that cannot get consistently under + - 15 spd. I don’t know how well they regulate their watches with miyota 9000 tho. You can ask their support page.

My watch was purchased 2 years ago from amzwatch and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.

You’re right, it’s got the dial of the Oris with the bezel of a Rolex. I personally like this love child. I had the Oris but it was a little too large at 43mm and it’s not a true GMT. I have this Wise on order.
