There's so much I'd love to talk about regarding this house, hehe. Abandoned old houses like this are very common in Japan. They're called 'akiya', and are usually the result of an older person dying and nobody in their family wanting to move in, but not being able to sell the property due to various fees and taxes involved. Ultimately, the family lets the property fall into ruin, with everything left inside. Eventually the local government seizes the property and offers it up for sale as-is for a ridiculously low price. Buying akiya can be a good way to get a traditional old house for cheap, but the repair and renovation costs are a gamble. This house in this game is full of retro Showa charm. I just love traditional houses, haha.

the strong difference between some Chilla's Art games is because it's owned by 2 brothers, which have a different design philosophies. While one of them prefers this personal type of horror games and some small puzzles, with games such as Onryo, Parasocial or The Karaoke, the other prefers much more atmospheric horror focusing on creating a disturbing and sometimes haunted feeling within the players. These are games such as this one, The Convenience Store and Inunaki Tunnel. Hope this explains it!

The censored things really had my mind going. I was debating if they were going to roll the footage fast forwarded and pause on the censored scenes to show you what you were looking at. Now I'm wondering if they're revealed in the next playthrough. If not, I think that'd be a fun idea for the future. Like...the character can't comprehend what they're seeing. Fun video! I wonder if the closer you are to them and/or the longer you have the cursor on it, if it becomes uncensored like during the one part in the house, where the censored box disappears. Maybe revealing them all is how you get the last achievement, or maybe it’s another ending (if the game has multiple endings).

oh wow this is i think one of the first chilla's art games that has like, genuinely actually scared me. the style's really effective and the censor-bar ghosts or whatever are. WHOOF. quite spooky!

my theory: the guy in the recording is insane. the voice from the hole is his hallucination. him being religious only makes things worse. he lived with his mother and grandfather and started displaying violent tendencies (killing and dismembering animals). eventually he killed his mother, probably by poisoning her (she was found dead at the table, as if it happened in a blink of an eye). grandfather committed unalive because he couldn't bear the loss of his daughter. also he was probably too old for work and the loss of his working daughter meant poverty. the insane guy buried them underground and kept living in a deteriorating house, occasionally killing people who tried to explore it. also he probably ate the bodies before dumping what's remaining into the hole to feed the 'demon'.

Jisatsu is that one Chilla's art game that really made me uncomfortable, uneasy, and somewhat creeped out. Who knew the use of black 2D squares can add to the creepy atmosphere of the game! The abandoned home, the creaking sounds, the tight and limited vision... it's this thought of there might be some subtle horrors going on the side or the upcoming jumpscare is what made this game "too much" to handle for me

I'm super late here, but the numbers on the achievements were the number of minutes played. You needed to spend another 6 minutes before finishing the game to get the last one.

I looked up the achievements and put all of them in order in a binary translator, and the only one that gets anything discernible is ASCII/UTF-8 and it gives "サタン". Or Satan, in Japanese. I was wondering why none of the binary was in English letters(which start with 0). Lmao. Different language. These are the achievements. 6 - 11100011 12 - 10000010 18 - 10110101 24 - 11100011 30 - 10000010 36 - 10111111 42 - 11100011 10000011 48 - 10110011 00001010 Not sure why the achievement numbers are there. I initially thought it was 1-12 to find the order of them.

I had a lot of theories going for this game but I’m pretty sure it’s cult related. You don’t see Christian symbols often in Japan and when you do it’s mostly related to cults or foreigners. So my guess is that the parents of the guy with the grandparents belong to a cult and died for some reason. The game is sadly way too vague in that aspect tho so I’m not sure. My guess is that the boss is also in on it because why did he tell us to go to that specific house and then not remember us? It also didn’t seem like the guy attacked the boss when we checked to see the dead intern. Very suspicious. The cult stuff could also explain why there was a graveyard under the house. The face of the dude that kills everyone is also suspiciously similar to that of one of japans biggest cult leaders. Very very confusing game and I’m still not sure how to connect all the dots so I’m still theorizing about it. Now idk how the demon thing is related to all of it. Atmosphere wise the best chillas art game up to this day, super scary. But my god the story is so unclear that it makes me mad. I would have given this a 10/10 if the story was better told. It seems too rushed :(

That reminds me the ghost that we constantly see is that of the grandma. The demon/whatever is down the toilet hole tells us that the doll gets possessed. So after the grandma is dead we take the hair to transfer her soul into it. That’s why there’s hair everywhere when we search for the doll. My favorite detail is the hair under the kotatsu that vanishes as soon as the dolls head breaks off.

Living in a majority catholic country I can presume it's all about that. The 2 religious icons we see is Virgin Mary and the saint Anthony of Padua, patron of miracles, travelers, finding one's spouse, pregnancy, harvests, animals, lost items, lost people, lost souls, poverty, sterility, the sick, the disabled, the oppressed, the hungry, the elderly, faith in the Blessed Sacrament, sailors, fishermen, watermen, swineherds, mail carriers, counter-revolutionaries and indigenous peoples of the Americas. He also is the patron of marriage here in Brazil (??? I know, people are crazy like that) and the baby he's holding is Jesus. Also that painting is the Bizantine Christ "Christ Pantocrator" from the orthodox catholic church. Still don't get the poop demon, what a way to win over some souls, huh? lol
