Gaming laptops always suck juice, and ROG gaming laptops typically do not come with switchable graphics for battery use (Asus decided against doing this after the major headaches they had with their line of gaming laptops that had the GTX 500 series dedicated GPUs and low power Intel APU graphics).

I got the ROG Strix from 2019. The good side of these laptops is that U can take it with you. I game a lot, I code a lot, and I keep my laptop with me a lot, especially in coffee shops. This laptop is the "all you need" type of laptop.

I need to go out and move only once or twice a month for work related task. May be 6-8 times a year. So I think 17.3 inches is not a daunting task to carry, yeah it make things heavier but my work flow also easier when I am not able to get hold of large monitor when not in office or home. Since I am working on two 27 inches monitors sidewise and need large screen. It makes things really small for 15.6 inch. I am also looking to build new PC ( Tower or cabinet). I already have monitors. So, I am thinking what could be best spot to buy- whether to get too high end laptop for all task or upgrade my current PC to new one and then look for somewhat budget friendly laptop Though I have budget saved since 8 months just to buy 2500 $ laptop. Yeas- I agree and whatever machine I get I will be going for 3 years warranty atleast. All I am looking for well optimised and great performing machine within my budget. I am still confused whether to choose AMD 6900 HX or i7 12700 HX i9 12900 is outside my budget and also overheats and drains battery too fast. i9 are too pricey! SHould I wait for a month to get things cool down on price or for better options?

We're getting to a point where cooling solutions for gaming laptops can't keep up with the thermal output from the components under load. Carrying a console around would be a better option than a laptop like this.

Asus Rog warranty and after sales support is terrible. They ended up charging me for diagnosing a warranty issue and refused to send back my broken laptop if I didn't pay it. Down about 1300 euros and lost a ton of business over them. Would never recommend Asus to anybody over this. Screw Asus!!

For PC gaming on the go, I think just buying a Steam Deck is the way to go unless you're a pro gamer. It's not an insane powerhouse but it's good enough to play modern PC games well, it's smaller than a laptop and more convenient to carry in an overnight bag. Get a PC rig for home and then bring the Steam Deck on trips or when you feel like playing a few rounds of DOOM in bed.
