I've seen a few videos and I think Pit Boss has introduced some very interesting design features like the adjustable rack system and the hopper divider. I love the ability to take out the burn pot to clean out without having to disassemble, something I really didn't like about my Recteq. I'm curious though, it looked like a about the 6 minute mark you were pushing on those grates and there was a fair bit of flex in there. Think those will hold up well to something like an 18 pound brisket or something on there?
@TheDawgfathasBBQ10 ай бұрын
Yeah they are definitely pushing the envelope and making some great strides for our craft. And yeah I was flexing those shelves quite a bit. They will absolutely hold up to your heavy proteins. That is all being said having not cooked on it just yet, but I think it will be fine.

Yes sir, I had a bad box as well. I see a little damage here and there on yours, but looks liveable. That front right corner looks a bit bent. If it works, great! I had a similar experience, heavily commented on at GrillSergeants channel, Fedex banged it up bad, broke a weld on the tops front right corner, and had lid sepration on the back right edge of the lid. I had to load it up and take it to academy store (30mins), their customer service rep EVA on the phone was super, did everything to make it right, I ordered another and this time Estes ETW is bringing it. Fingers crossed on #2.

I enjoy your videos. Learning a lot. What's your opinion on soaking your smoking wood in water several hours apparently to slow it burning and create more smoke?
@TheDawgfathasBBQ10 ай бұрын
Thanks Gary. I'm not a fan of soaking wood chips really. I understand the concept but depending on the wood and how quickly you get it to burn, you could run the risk of getting a dirty smoke flavor. Or a hint of at least. IF you soak chips I would probably go with 2 parts dry to 1 part-soaked wood chips. That way you get some chips with moisture to help create smoke and you have the dry to burn to help eliminate dirty burn.

Very rich feature set and nice looking grill. Congrats. I think Pit Boss has really up’d the feature offering game when compared to Recteq, Traeger, Z Grills etc. I know that historically when it comes to temp control, even cooking, quality of build etc., some of the other grills I mentioned have edged out Pit Boss so I will be curious to see how this new offering performs doing long cooks, fast cooks etc. Enjoy the new toy.

I thought I should mention I finally up loaded a short introduction video last week with no cooking. Im doing video later today on my first cook video. Simple and short, upload in a day or so. Anyway if you check out the one video up you will see my new leg. After 4 months in a wheelchair it's so nice to be able to stand and walk. Anyway great video. Have a great day 🌤.

Hey my friend, first off, I really enjoy your videos so keep them coming. My question is, with the Titan not be available in California, do you think PitBoss is coming out with another unit shortly that everyone can purchase? My fear is I’m gonna spend all this money on the elite and then PitBoss will come out with something similar to the titan with all these new features. My gut is telling me to wait it out. What do you think?

@TheDawgfathasBBQ10 ай бұрын
😀I hear you brother. I LOVE burning splits and doing live fire cooking. Pellet grills have hopped on the scene and I don't think they are going anywhere. They are too easy to cook on which the average Joe loves. If you ever decide you want to add a pellet cooker to the fold and need any info, hit me up. They are just another great additional tool to the BBQ arsenal.
@BBQROCKSTAR17810 ай бұрын
@@TheDawgfathasBBQ I feel like I need to add something like that to the arsenal, because everybody seems to have embraced this movement.
@johnnyboyA7610 ай бұрын
I wish Pitt Boss would come up with a similar system that camp chef did with actually burning real wood at the same time in a fire box. I'm just always disappointed in smoke taste when I use my pellet grill compared to an offset or kettle grill. Definitely convenient, but just not the same flavor 😐
@TheDawgfathasBBQ10 ай бұрын
Yeah pellet grills and offsets or even kettles are completely different animals. You will never achieve the same flavors on a pellet grill because it doesn't have the same level of combustion you would get from wood or charcoal. We can do different things here and there to impart as much smoke flavor as possible but it can't be compared to the "traditional" cookers. With that said, I can't say that I've made anything on my pellet cookers I was disappointed with. Hang in there bud. Good barbeque on a pellet cooker is there to be made.
