This New Ranged Weapon is DOPE | OSRS Eclipse Atlatl

I tested out the Eclipse Atlatl (a new weapon in OSRS) and here's how it went.
The Atlatl is a cool new Ranged Weapon, which has a max hit based of your melee strength. It's interesting for any bosses you would bring both a Melee and a Ranged setup.

Just recently brought it on a Kalphite queen task and it worked surprisingly well. KQ is such a pain in the ass and burns through so much supplies its nice to have longer trips while trying to get the head for the elite diary.

@@elemenop_osrs You've said easyscape in two different comments, but you clearly don't understand the balance of the weapon. Yes, it's easier than switching 8 pieces of gear. But it's also not as efficient DPS wise. That's very well balanced, and no reason to complain about it.

im using it at colloseum and it obliterates actually. full eclipse with atlatl, echo boots, torture, barrows gloves, berserker ring, ava for not picking shit up

These are the things we need. With big pvm updates like a new end game raid, a piece of bis dropping is fine but we really need weapons and gear like this. The game gets stale when every end game pillar is just the same 3 way loadout. Having items that gain bonuses by using off-meta/outside the box setups allows us to be creative and push the game as far as we can while also preventing massive power creep every update They dont have to be the best, they just have to be on-par with a mid lvl setup while offering inventory and gear variety.

Been running this at grotesque guardians for slayer tasks so I can bring more supplies. Works well and while its def slower than my venator bow, being able to bring more restores in the slots I would have brought switches gives me higher kill trips. Cool weapon and I hope to see them do more unique stuff like this in the future.

Problem with atlatl for nylo is how slow it is. Can get way more hits in with blowpipe. Cool for irons who want to do less zulrah i guess

Yes, your Ava's will pick up the Atlatl darts

On that dps Calc at baboon shamans are you sure you switched the bp from accurate to rapid? Without plugging anything into a calc it looks like the blowpipes dps is 3t not 2t.

I imagine it would be fine for killing the Bodyguards after the boss, but overall Melee isn't as helpful in GWD as a full ranged setup, so that might only fit for like Zammy, maybe Bandos

Some ranged gear for accuracy isn't a bad idea. It really depends exactly what you're killing with it. I found that just bringing the Atlatl and my Ava's Device were enough ranged switches to keep my accuracy good, and my melee str bonus still high

@@TheEdB0ys Thanks. I was looking into it as a cheap alternative for killing giant mole, but it's defences are way too high for it. Twisted bow is too expensive so I will just stick to armadyl crossbow.

When the Obelisk tosses out those skull, you can can stand up to two squares out in any cardinal direction from the skull (sort of drawing a plus sign '+') Here is a visual example (with a paused screenshot of the safe squares) as well! - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXfUk2OGdptjkLs

You could use the Atlatl at Hydra as well. It's just a bit better than a Rune Crossbow w/ Ruby bolts. But also less attack range to work with The main purpose was to show that the Weapon is good for bringing less switches, and you don't bring any switches to Hydra. So waiting until I got a hydra task just to show that it's basically a Rune Crossbow, would have been a waste of time

This seems like ezscape. I'm only just learning about this gear because i was away from the game 6 months. It kind of takes away from the skill of switching gear.. goes against the combat triangle.. and nearly completely takes away from the desire to grind out amethyst arrows as an ironman. Perhaps those are still better in some contexts? Idk.. im still pretty ignorant to all these changes but, still... what is up with this funny looking... non combat triangle intuitive gear

Bringing max switches and a higher tier ranged weapon is still better DPS. So you're still rewarded for having enough skill to switch gear (and need less invy space). This isn't replacing ranged switches, it's just another option. And how does this have to do with the combat triangle? Combat Triangle has to do with weaknesses. This doesn't change whether or not things are weak to ranged. It just means you can still do good ranged damage without as many switches (again, not quite as much ranged damage though, so it's not replacing the ranged weapons that require a lot of switches).
