Great guide, I'd been bringing Heal Chrono into PvP lately moreso because I've been switching to Mesmer as my PvE main and I like to keep on one character primarily. Has been hard to wrap my head around it though. I knew the Chaos Aura was good but I hadn't really considered it as being super important, so I usually spammed and overlapped a lot of abilities that could have given me Chaos Aura, seeing it as more of a nice benefit than a core buff. After watching this I played one game to try to put into practice using my Chaos Aura skills more spread out, and I felt WAY stronger. Won the game and ended with top Healing, Defence, Kills and Revives. Thank you for giving me the final jigsaw puzzle I needed to understand how this build works. 🙂

In PvP you don't have to go full support because the most important thing to counter is conditions. Simply taking Inspiration (2-2-2) will cover a lot of ground leaving you with the option to take really aggressive stats and traits. Recently started playing a Shatter Chrono variant with Inspiration and I find it to be quite fun to play.

I guess this works since everyone gives boons now, there used to be too much boonstrip in pvp to be able to rely on even a few secs of might/quick (alac was rare enough). The meta also seems to rely more on teamfights instead of individual outplays. Nice to see, because pvp was a bit unapproachable and large skill-gaps made people hesitant to try to get to platinum/legendary ranks. Hope more people will play pvp now with all the easy and approachable boon builds out there these days! I didn't like how casual players only went to wvw to have fun, when pvp has so much to offer.

I watch these videos and when I try them, I can’t get anything done. The build doesn’t matter, the player does. You should do a series with worst builds you can use for each class and see how that goes.

@@Vallun it's just uninspired and promotes spam. no real choices in your rotation. static gameplay loop. this scripted gameplay started with feb 2020 patch and makes this game dull. example : firebrand rework. before the rework you had to make a choice which tome to open and it was a commitment - you got punished by going wrong tome at the wrong time as you lost your pages, different skills for different situations, nowadays you just faceroll in and out and 3 pages in each tome are garbage. oh and back then you had the skillful element of stunbreak mantra, now you are so squishy beacuse of boring ranged spam powercreep that you have to run RF. risk/reward and complexity of fb was destroyed so we can have zoomers running around grenading eachother like league of legends. at this spec most specs are gimped to the point this game feels like fanfic. talking about sPvP as i don't play anything else heard PvE got better so good for them. when i look at mesmer rifle i lose all hope in this game because it's anohter weapon where you spam 3 abilities off cd. spvp is turning into modern league of legends.

Every skill on the weapon besides the phantasm are flat heal/barrier application so if you don't get them all off as fast as possible you fall behind compared to the enemy chrono. There is no real choices or thought process. You throw all your flat values asap or you fall behind and lose to the enemy chrono. Try comparing that to the old design of firebrand tomes or tempest. You make a choice of opening a tome/going into an attunment which all have different uses, you get rewarded or punished based on decision you make. That is good game design. Mesmer's rifle, partially due to powercrept meta ends up being nothing more than a spam of flat healing values over your team. It devolves the support gameplay, as opposed to Tempest/Release Firebrand that evolved it and ended up being amazing/iconic support specializations. Mesmer rifle is a glorified core guardian and that is why the design of it is awful.
