I think Point tried to prep for the hit. He initiated contact with Reilly so they would go into the boards together in a semi controlled manner; players do it all the time. This time Point lost an edge/his balance and went hard into the boards. Whatever "push" people think they see is just the sudden release of pressure off of Reilly as points begins to fall towards the boards. No intent there from Reilly at all.

1. I agree with you on the Point hit. Point was leaning into Rielly and Rielly was going to use that to slow them into the boards, except Point loses footing, goes down on one knee and Rielly pushes him as he didn't realize Point lost his balance. Just super unfortunate. 2. Kuch jumping Rielly is okay. He doesn't know the context, only that his teammate got hit into the boards. 3. Stamkos sucker punched Matthews and got away with it. There is no defending that action. Yes, Matthews is a soft player when it comes to scrums/fights, but he was literally picking up equipment when Stammer drops his gloves and punches him. Veteran move to take Matthews out for 5 min since he probably knows the refs won't call two penalties out of the scrum. But, the ref literally was 2 feet away looking at that, so I am at a loss for words why it wasn't called. 4. Dubas would only respond like that if the fan said something egregious. No way a normally calm GM would react like that unless the fans crossed a line. 5. Sammy stole the game. Leafs should not have won that.

Stamkos was a real tough guy especially when he grabbed Schenn first then realised who it was and bitched out to attack another player. Classless act on stamkos. Then Stamkos ended up throwing and flipping Matthews because Stamkos don't know how to throw a punch

I'm not a fan of either team, but the Leafs got lucky in this one. Tampa really should have won that game, they blew it more than the Leafs won it in my opinion.

“thought it was a clean hit” I’m sure bias had nothing to do with that… lol
@TheFido19 Жыл бұрын

Clearly the ref blew the whiste too soon, but that is hockey. If the ref had been in a better position to see the play, the Lightning would have, and should have, been up 4 to 2 and most likely would have won the game. The Leafs stole one and should now go on to win the series. Guess playoff hockey is why those of us who played and love the game are addicted to it.

The Leafs did something they haven't shown with the core of this team in the playoffs, they showed that they refused to lose.

What I wanna know is why Tampa's 4th goal was called back, because in the Boston series they counted the goal even though the whistle clearly blew first. Same thing. Both Boston and Tampa were robbed

How was that hit not a penalty, dude literally rode Point into the boards, regardless of if Point lost his balance first. Reilly could have let up on his check, and you know, not finished it. Leafs fans are so ridiculous

Matthew's was holding 3 sticks while Stamkos attacked him. Can't call that a fight. Point also went down like he was shot then played the rest of the game. Blood boiling.

I am surprised the leafs won game 3, they didn't look good for 2/3 the game, however they somehow pulled it off so good on them.

As soon as that hit happened, Tampa got away with everything. Stamkos cross checked Morgan, and jumped Auston who never dropped his gloves or threw a punch. Somehow refs ignored cross check and called it a fight. They penalized Auston 5 min for getting jumped. The officiating is god awful and going to win the Lightning this series again. Calling nothing favors the lightning.
@bryceandrews3702 Жыл бұрын
The biggest thing to take away from game 3 is that whoever was officiating that night should never be allowed inside an NHL arena again. Absolutely HORRENDOUS job. Multiple missed tripping calls, the called back goal from point that would’ve won it for tampa and many more things

Yea...I would get pumped too...Vasilevsky is no longer an elite goalie....he is really not playing well at all right now. I take the opposite out of this game you do...Tampa was soft, they let Toronto get easy goals and positioning. The goalie is also a big deal..Vasilevsky is out of sorts. He looks absolutely awful in net...he has given up 14 goals in 3 games...his save percentage is somewhere around 86....that is not NHL level goaltending....not good for Bolts...
@cardboardsports2846 Жыл бұрын
Saying Vasy is not an elite goalie says to me you don't know what an elite goalie is... Vasy is still an elite goalie! Those numbers are one year stats of 3 games, that guy can bounce back and shut teams down. Saying those are not NHL numbers from 3 games you are making it sound worse then what it is.

The difference is... Leafs aren't as soft as you would expect them to be. They take a pound of flesh with them. Trying to injure guys, the Leafs of yesteryear would never have done that. They are different, and that's because, they know. If they get knocked out in the 1st round again, everyone's gone. So they have to. And the Leafs would usually be down 2-1 after this game, now they are 2-1 up and I actually believe they might win this series 4-1. They're in a much better position, and they have home ice advantage, this has to be the one for them.

I agree with everything you just said here.... the only thing I would disagree with is this, you said as long as TB plays like this they'll likely win the series. First off, that may very well be true except we KNOW the Leafs won't counter with a game like THAT all the way through. That's why WINNING the game where you are outplayed is a Key to winning a series. Because the Leafs will have much better games then this one, win or lose, so snatching the W in this game is huge beyond words. If the Leafs have learned ANYTHING over the past countless season's, it's that it's Not over until that 4th win, so appreciate getting the W on a terrible game and then get the next 2 W's by playing up to your capabilities. It's in their hands .... now they just need to bounce back next game with a fierce effort, easier said then done with the Leafs.😓

This game win reminds me of Leafs vs Canadiens game 6. In which we heavily outplayed the opponent and still ended up losing. This game 3 against Tampa was the exact opposite. In the sense that Tampa should’ve won that game with the way they played, yet we found a way to win with some clutch performances
