I would sharpen the I beams - they cut the roots that way. At lest it works for pipe. We do 8 foot chainlink with a pnumatic post pouinder and only use 2 3/8 for line posts and 3 inchs for corners and small gates. We use 12 foot posts 4 foot in the ground. Overkill yep. But we like it that way.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am impressed with your installation and technique. I am curious as to why you didn't put a full section of fence over the tree trunk and then the short section up against the neighbor's fence so the short section isn't in the middle of the fence. You could have placed the posts of that section, straddling the tree trunk, then worked out from each side of the fence. I am curious about your thoughts. Also, is this fence a product that is sold nationwide? Is it a franchise? Fence installers of this product in Maryland?

As long as your panels are rackable there's no need to use brackets. It's very important to make sure your panels can rack to the slope desired--if they don't rack even brackets won't help you.

Ok so I work For Maritime Fence, in Nova Scotia Canada all of us worked for Eastern Fence one of the oldest Fencing companies in all of North America. Now that Vinci bought us we are literally the biggest fencing company around if you do your home work they are 3rd biggest construction company world wide. Our salesmen would have let the customer know before hand he couldn't have a straight fence with out giving him he's options before hand they don't sell a pig in a poke we do jobs world wide Prisons/Airports/militarybases US/Canada/Jamaica to Japan Highways Guardrails etc we do it all. We don't have easy pounding ground gas pounders, like what you use are useless here we use Rhino with air compressors plus air drills some times we have to bring out the big guns with a skid steer and the down hold hammer drill when auger doesn't work. I might be wrong but from the videos I'd say your about 5ft9 or under I'm 6" 240lbs and I'm telling you, You couldn't budge our Iron Eagle. How you say the material comes with extra material we like that so we can weld galvy pipes threw it from waste so we can pound them in put some quickcrete down the hatch, You will not budge our iron eagles in my area we stay away from aluminum as the base since it's weak in extremely cold conditions. IN nova scotia you don't hit post Post hit you.

I learned the drill chuck 'trick' a few months ago, but it doesn't seem to make a difference with my drill. It does click, but I'll still randomly have it loosen up. It's an M18 hammer drill, so it's not a low end drill.

The drill chuck 'trick' is backwards - you should hand tighten it over that click, not back it off one.

Spin it tight with the drill, back it off by hand and re-righten by hand. It will go a couple clicks more. It's just like tightening a set screw: snug it, back it off, and re-tighten to set it and it'll go a quarter turn more the second time.

Kinda doesn't make sense to me because a) I feel like you will encounter roots in most states and cities and b) you'll encounter roots even when you dig for cement posts. Nice. But why use a string for heights? We use a laser so we can measure the height difference. The highest point is the tree, so we put a laser on the highest point and then measure the difference where we want to start with our first post. Then we add the difference to the post where we want to start. Litteraly we mark our fence panel from top to bottom on the post, witht the extra height we measured .Let the mark come down on the ground and you’re done. Add a inch or so to go over the tree just a inch etc. That’s how i work in dutch fencing industry. Pretty funny adapters you use there to slide over the main post. We use none of that though here. Plus its better to always set a endpost to sight the posts in line while pounding them in. When you and your co worker get a nice feeling with it you will be a human machine! Do you adjust your laser for jobs that are not level?

@@wileyearly7051 No we place it in the middle of our working area and then we measure the height differences. We use a measure stick with the reciever of the laser on it. Then we put it on the ground where we wanna start and measure the whole line of where the fence needs to be placed. At the starting point we level the reciever of the laser on 0. Then for example 10 meters further i place the stick with reciever and see that i have to lower the reciever on the stick to get to the 0 point we measured at the beginning. This means this point is higher because i have to lower the reciever. When the reciever must get slided up on the stick, the ground there is lower. Its a reversed world but perfect to measure height differences.
