My nephew went to Williams and trade school. They taught him so much there. Much more than just the trades. Also how to be professional! I also used to teach High school In the trades. I wish that all of my students could’ve gone there after graduating.

I live 15 minutes from the Williamson school. The kids that go there become consummate professionals. If I meet a graduate they are always highly successful. My friend’s son graduated from there he works as a project manager for a huge construction firm making 175k with a $800 truck allowance per month

What they skipped of course was the distance from the top step to the surface of the porch. It was definitely not in the 7-inch range. That will become a problem area for rot if it is not protected correctly. Everything that drops off the roof or blows in will end up in some form on those steps. The exposed wood could be a problem. If they were smart, they would use some PVC material behind that. Being perfectly level is not entirely a good thing here. You need to have a slight incline so water runs off. I would also make sure the step surfaces have some sort of roughness to them to prevent slippage. I have used a blowtorch before to rough up a stone.

So much hard work on this house just to COMPLETELY ruin all of it by using the cable railing system that doesn't belong with this period of house. The cable type railing is only designed for very modern style of new homes and office buildings. What moron chose it?

It's the back of the house first of all. And they chose a modern door there too. The front of the house is traditional. I don't see a big deal.

@jeffweber8244 I think they're doing the same thing in the front too. It's pretty ugly and will look so dated in 10 years. The beauty of an old house is it's timeless. Not here!
