I flew with TacAero for a few days and they taught me how to land a Top Cub on a river sandbar for the first time. It was my first formal STOL (short takeoff and landing) training and it was completely eye-opening! doing that type of aviation work out will make going back to your plane become a totally different perspective...your feet work will become so much better...I did some Champ work last year and it made my Cessna work so much more consistent...plan to finish tailwheel this year

Just got back from Tac Aero! Kris and the boys were great! First class operation and a great location to get lots of off airport practice.

It’s not something i plan to do “beyond training.” It is just something i want to do to expand my personal limits - I like to have confidence by “KNOWING where I break” (just like spending hours under the hood until fatigue finally beats you; you fail…but know WHERE is your personal breaking point, which builds confidence).

My strip at the house is 650 feet. And that's with obstacles on each end, every single time I land or takeoff it is a different situation due to wind and being down in these east Texas trees After 35 years of flying I can honestly say don't worry about spot landing as they call it, because as you say you will overshoot it almost every time and the problem is if you undershoot it you've either shoved the nose forward or fell out of the sky with a huge bounce i'm still under the old school of flying you focus at the end of your airstrip or your landing zone keep your eye on it and just know that you've got to be stopped before you get there. 80% of my flying is Off airport, every time I go in for my BFR always look at the Instructor and say I hope you got the radios🤣💦
