I agreed good articulation [Diction] do really helps to improve your singing, Thanks for sharing how voice and unvoiced consonants can affect your singing voice and using the right breath control support when projecting your resonating voice.

Yeah.....but. For the upper head range, there's another school of thought where you deliberately don't enunciate the words. Infact you just use an easy vowel and keep the tongue out to take pressure off the vocal chords. Then, presumably you slowly add the words. I think Ill try using more lips. I know about narrowing the vowels and dropping the jaw. Lips??? Worth a go!!

You are so right! Thanks for pointing that out. When it comes to the upper register, I have seen good articulation help some people, but I have also seen the open mouthed approach you mentioned work. I always subscribe to the idea that it's best to try multiple approaches and see what works best for you in the given moment. Narrowing the lips is another great thing to try. Depending on what sound you're going for, it may help you warm up or lighten things a bit in the upper part of your range. In order for it to work, I encourage students to really thing "duck bill" lips if that makes sense. I would love to hear about your findings. Let me know how it goes!

@@ljdstudios probably off topic but was thinking of a segment-a challenge- where you give advice to someone who HAS to sing a tune ( reason unknown) with some notes past the bridge. Gig in say 2 weeks and vocalist is not a "singer". I'd say either practice high bit in falsetto or sing thru your nose with a cry. Brutal and not technical but it works as long as sound guy can add extra echo where needed. I call it the nuclear option. Remember these pple don't know about support, placement, soft palette, chest/head voice, posture and perhaps sing out of tune. No, not me I'm a singer..of sort 😆 challenge?
