Hold on man. You be got this. Try to run the 1ks efforts not so hard but keep easy on the recovery not walk forget the pace . When you get the intensity up the mindset telling you to stop. You can nail this target 18.59 around the corner.

@SteveGorrill7 күн бұрын
Hi Lee Firstly I’d call it a Kamikaze pyramid 😂 Now here’s my view this might open me up to some criticism but I’m used to that. I’m sure you can get close to sub 19 but it’s not going to be quick and there are a few stages that you need to box of to coin one of your favourite phrases. 1. You need to be consistently under 20 mins. Say 4-5 consecutive sub 20 runs. Then similar at 19.5mins then you get to the hard bit. You really shouldn’t be killing yourself in training it needs to be progressive focussing on pace judgement. I think you need at least another 6-8 months. Following on from your previous video I wouldn’t worry too much about increasing the pace of your slower runs because the aim of those is just to build aerobic capacity and your base speed will increase anyway without any conscious effort. This might be boring but I would rather see you do 2 speed sessions per week with a decent gap between. First would be 10x400x off 1min every week. First 3 weeks 3:55 pace no faster. Once you can do this comfortably 3 weeks 3:52 pace then 3 weeks 3:50. Second session Week 1 would be 6x1k @ 3:55 emphasis on not faster than. Week 2: 3x2k @ 3:55 Week 3: 2x 3k @ 3:55 Then same at 3:52 and 3:50. If you can manage that 9 weeks you should be comfortable between 19.30-19.15 5k. If you aren’t repeat the stages until you are. Bit from 19.15 to sub 19 is hard but achievable. To give you an idea when I ran 17:20 in my late 30’s I was running 10x400m in 75 secs (5min mile pace) Also I did all my speed sessions on the track which is far easier to judge pace. See you at Barnsley soon. Steve🙏

Hi Steve mate 👍🏻👍🏻 as ever i genuinely appreciate your view and comments and I take them on board. As you can see I have jumped quite a lot in terms of session difficulty here and I couldn’t handle it🤣🤪😵.You are absolutely correct mate. I think I’ll be going back to the session that got me the sub 20 the 10x400 but work on decreasing that rest currently at 75 seconds and increasing the reps to 12 😂😂sounds more sensible I think. It’s always nice to have a bit of fun and nearly throw up. You have given me some great guidance mate and I’m glad you popped up. Very much looking forward to the track session it will be March / April , I’ll give you a couple of weeks notice - legend 👊👊 cheers for the top info and I do appreciate your support Steve , it means a lot 👊👊

@Journeyoflee No problem mate. I will always try and be constructive. No doubting your commitment and that’s worth a lot. And they used to say successful sport is 99% perspiration 1% inspiration. Just be patient. I’m sure a couple of track sessions can pull it all together you clearly have enough base speed. Running reps on Road isn’t ideal. I’ll be a bit fitter by March. 😂🙏
