It may look like a classic but every single part of this car is brand spanking new. Aston Martin are taking us right back to a bygone era with the DB4 G.T. continuation. And we drove it out on track.

They don't have a car show. They have a show where three men who don't like each other drive around in cars. I love Clarkson, Hammond and May, but even they said they're not really a car show or real journalists.

I would agree with that. Only they carry so much authority and create opinions (mostly from past glory) that their review are probably most important than from these "YT" reviewers together.

The Vulcan is an assault on the senses. Very hardcore and it can bite your head off quite easily. The DB4 GT is more of a celebration of what driving is all about. Enjoying the pure, old school driving experience where handling is the only thing matters above all else. Both are absolutely wonderful and different enough to have them both as track toys.

The DB4 is enjoyable for a multitude of reasons. Not only was it an exceptional car for its time, its an excellent handling car considering what it is to work with. There's no AWD. There's no torque vectoring or brake vectoring. Any downforce it produces is negligible. There's no carbon ceramic brakes. It has a 4-speed dogbox manual transmission (no paddles). It doesn't have slick tires (and the tires it does use have MASSIVE sidewalls). There's no ABS, no traction control, no stability control, not even power-steering. It's your hands having an uncorrupted, uninterrupted conversation with the front wheels (through that gorgeous steering wheel). And, your right foot has an uninterrupted conversation with the rear wheels. The whole car is like the most engaging conversation you can possibly imagine. And, ultimately, that's why the Vulcan, FXX-K, and P1 GTR will never, ever come anything close to the sensational enjoyment this old (or, rather, new) DB4 can produce.

MarvisTv so, I'm dumb for having an affinity for communicative cars? The standards for stupidity are rather high these days! In all seriousness, stop with the pointless strawmen. Having a fondness for cars that give feedback is not mutually exclusive to liking progress. I like fully -independent suspension. I like aerodynamics (reducing coefficient of drag and increasing downforce). I like anti-roll bars and state-of-the-art tires like the Michelin Pilot P4S. I like electronically-controlled limited slip differentials. And, i like electronic assistences when I'm getting to know a car or when I'm driving in the rain. I just don't like things that take away skill from the driver that can't be disabled. Back when I raced (FIA), I always said that speed and safety are often linked. The more I trust a car, and the more predictable its handling, the safer I am, the harder I can push, and the faster I will go. I've actually been in a 675LT around Silverstone. I couldn't trust it past 7/10s. It was too disconcerting at the rear due to McLaren's horrible break-steer differential substitute, particularly in the Becket's complex (a series of high speed, decreasing-radius right, left corners). But, I could trust a little Renault Clio RS with slicks and coilovers. As a result, the Clio had higher minimum cornering speeds in all but 4 corners (mostly due to a lack of downforce), and it even had a faster sector time at one part as well! (We tested with multiple professional drivers, including a current touring car racer, to try to overturn the results, but nobody could). Point of the story: NEVER underestimate the importance of feedback when evaluating a car.

The db4 gt was known for having difficult handling due to the ageing design against newer machinery from jaguar and Ferrari, and the 5,7" shorter wheelbase made them even more nervous than the db4 on which its based. But still, they are always my favourite at Goodwood.

My lord, will cars ever evoke such emotion again? I highly doubt it! From an E36 M3 to E82 135i to 911 997, and ///M240i(All manual and at least in the german auto community commonly referred to as "Driver's Cars." Every car I seem to purchase over the course of that series, only becomes faster...while the inexplicable "experience" further becomes diluted at the same rate. Although, my course of ownership may not relate entirely or even remotely to vehicles of this caliber or worthiness, it very well defines the "Theatrical" experience you mentioned in your review. The visceral nature takes us back to the experience us enthusiasts eternally desire...So in that regard I choose the much slower, less capable, DB4 GT

What is the main reason for driving your car on the track? You enjoy the driving and how the car feels. Does a faster laptime in a autopilot car give you a better feeling or just a better time? That is the question you should ask. A analog car isn´t faster, but it is more enjoyable.
