Hallo, lieber Paul.

Paul, I do love these demonstration videos, for while so many of the stops are similar from organ to organ, there are some wonderful exceptions which you so enthusiastically share with us. This instrument is a treasure, and I hope we will hear more of you playing it. As always, I wish you the very best.

"Resonators" isd the term you want, tops of reed pipes which shape the tone. Diameter vs. note is "scale," and those are very wide-scale tubas! They're also hooded, that is, bent to face the room. These do sound wonderful, and the wide scale is part of that.

English organs never have octave couplers (sub and super) on the great (or at least I have never seen an English organ with these),. sub and super on swell and choir only. Great video, loved hearing the sounds. The Cornopean was fantastic.

The Nelson organ at Gackenbach was purchased used from a church in England that was abandoned. It was then modified and had a new console, so now you can control both the French and English organ from the same place :)

As far as the Tuba goes, I think the term you are looking for is resonators. They are also hooded, meaning that the tops of the resonators are pointing outwards. This directs the sound outwards like an EnChamade and also has the advantage of preventing dust and dirt from getting into the reeds. Hope your concert went well. Hope your girlfriend liked it!

Interesting to have English and French organs that can play together. Is difficult to balance and combine their differences? (Surprising to see a fairly small church with 2 organs). From Chicago, U.S.A.

I have always wondered what those knobby devices are, the ones below the keyboards and above the pedal board. In none of the organ videos I have watched have I seen these devices employed.

What would be the purpose of two massive organs in one church? I see you already responded to my note already and I mentioned, though you may not have noticed, my last name is also Fey and my family is from northern Germany. Are you going to demonstrate the other organ also? Ich hab mein herz in Heidelberg verloren! 🤣
@PaulFey11 күн бұрын
@@riccardo50001 They usually are built in different styles. At St Thomas we have one organ for romantic and modern music and another one for Baroque music. It‘s a luxury problem I guess - it‘s like having a fast sports car for a fun drive on the weekend and an SUV for daily driving. You dont need both, but its fun to have! 😀
@riccardo5000111 күн бұрын
@@PaulFey It must be a very wealthy congregation . . . they own a sports car!!! We had an excellent organist at SF Opera who tragically died of HIV, but his talent as an organist enabled him to be one of the finest coach pianists at SF Opera because he could read almost anything. It was a sad loss for the company and community, though noto before he accompanied me in a rage review recital as a singer myself. What part of Germany are you from?
